Following important cannabis news articles every day can be a real burn-out, we know. That’s why the Emerald rolls up a chronicle of the headiest news hits, and passes them to you at the end of each week. We Bring You: The Dime.
Thai Sticks to the Plan
According to a story by the Bangkok Post, Thailand’s government reached a resolution last week to remove the leaves, branches, stems, trunks, bark, fibre, roots, hemp seeds, and seed extract of cannabis and hemp from the government’s narcotics list. The loosened restrictions aim to encourage the use of cannabis and hemp plants in cosmetics, food, textiles, garments, medicine, and herbal products. However, this measure does not affect shoots — which includes flower — due in part to their high drug content. But the new rules would permit cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) at a maximum of 0.2% content.
Ganja Guidance
The United Nations voted to remove cannabis for medicinal purposes from Schedule IV of the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs this week, reports the New York Times. While the vote will have no immediate impact, it will have reverberating effects that will likely be felt in time as the international community looks to the UN for guidance.
MORE Dope News
The long-anticipated vote on the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act of 2019 or the MORE Act by the U.S. House of Representatives will occur this Friday, December 4th. A key House committee advanced the bill on Wednesday, December 2nd, which cleared its path for a floor vote to occur this week.
