As CBD products become more popular, people are starting to utilize them for their various health benefits and skin care is no different. In fact, many laud CBD-infused sunscreens for their abilities to protect and heal the skin; thanks to their high level of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. 

Why an Infused Sunscreen?

Ildi Pekar, NYC-based aesthetician and founder of her own skincare line, tells Forbes that CBD is beneficial for the skin.

“[CBD] offers some serious antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits which can be beneficial in treating skin concerns like inflammation, dryness and free radical damage,” she says. 

Furthermore, Dr. Adars Mudgil, a double board-certified dermatologist and founder of Mudgil Dermatology, also tells Forbes that CBD is safe to use on the skin. 

“There is likely no harm in continuing to use a CBD-infused product you like,” she says. “If you happen to have a reaction from a CBD topical product, it’s likely not from the CBD itself, but some other ingredient like a botanical.”

In fact, a 2019 study highlighted that CBD has anti-inflammatory properties. Those properties are effective in treating skin inflammations and pain such as acne, redness of the skin and other external skin irritations like rashes and injuries related to sunburn because of its soothing ability. 

As a result, Olivia Rose, ND, a naturopathic doctor in Toronto, Canada explains to Aaptiv that CBD is becoming a popular, natural alternative, especially for those that  “[…] have exhausted the potential of pharmaceutical medications and other natural treatments.” 

A Popular Alternative 

Ryan Dills, managing partner for the Georgia Hemp Company, tells Emerald that the company’s CBD sunscreen is popular among consumers who seek soothing skincare ingredients void of harmful chemicals.
