While Mojitos — which are Cuban highballs — are traditionally made with rum and sugar, we were inspired to use Humboldt’s Finest Cannabis Sativa Vodka for this herbaceous cocktail. Plus — no sugar or muddling is needed in this recipe! Simply use a shaker or a mason jar to shake the mint together with the vodka, citrus and ice. The process helps muddle the mint to release its oils. In turn, it creates a mouthwatering aroma that wafts out of the jar once opened, and masks any flavor or smell of vodka.
We recently threw this together for an afternoon barbecue, and it’s quickly become one of our favorite summertime infusions! The result is incredibly refreshing. The drink almost resembles cucumber or lemon water more than a cocktail. It’s planty and citrusy — and very light.
Any brand of vodka or hemp-infused vodka can be used in this recipe. If infused vodka can’t be found, just add a few extra drops of hemp tincture to each drink. Either way, we recommend using ice cold alcohol straight from the freezer. Additionally, tonic water, or sparkling water (including lemon or lime-flavored waters) can be used instead of club soda. Please note that tonic water contains sugar, which will make the drinks sweet. Lemon may also be used instead of lime.
Hemp Mojito with Vodka
Makes two drinks*
Start to finish: less than 5 minutes
6 Mint leaves (about 3 leaves per drink)
2 shots of Humboldt’s Finest hemp-infused vodka
About 6-8 ounces of club soda (3-4 ounce per drink)
half a lime
4-6 drops of cannabis or CBD tincture (optional)
*If making the drink for one — pop the second serving in the fridge/freezer for later. Or, cut the recipe in half, and drink directly from the mason jar once mixed.
Put mint leaves in a shaker or mason jar. Then, fill the jar to the top with ice (crushed ice is best). Add two shots of vodka, and squeeze about half a lime into the mixture. Cover the top, and shake for roughly 30 seconds. If the mixture smells like vodka, continue shaking.
Now, pour the contents into two glasses, dividing evenly (use the shot glass if necessary). Add roughly 3-4 ounces of club soda to each glass. Top with the remainder of the lime, and two-three drops of cannabis or CBD tincture for an extra kick and planty flavor. Then, give it a quick stir, and serve!
