This week I tried out two tinctures from Toastyy, a CBD company that is all about empowering people to take time for themselves and relax.
Toastyy offers both a full-spectrum and a broad-spectrum hemp serum. The full-spectrum blend has less than .3% THC, while the broad-spectrum one has none. Neither is psychoactive.
The company’s tinctures come in two different flavors, vanilla and orange, and different strengths (900 or 1,800 mgs). All are lab tested, 100% vegan and non-GMO.
The Full-Spectrum Orange Tincture
The Full-spectrum Orange Tincture comes in a 1 ounce brown glass bottle with 1,800 mg of CBD. Its cap doubles as a dropper, which collects up to about 1 ml of CBD oil. It’s made with full-spectrum hemp oil and other all-natural ingredients.
This tincture has an orange zest scent that’s not too overpowering. The taste is similarly subtle. The directions say to hold it under the tongue for 20-30 seconds or until it dissolves.
There are only four ingredients total in Toastyy’s tinctures. The first is fractionated coconut oil (or Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT)), followed by the natural orange zest. The MCTs are partially man-made fats, which can increase one’s metabolism and promote weight loss. According to Healthline, they may also help reduce insulin resistance, treat epilepsy, and even improve brain function.
Additionally, the tincture also includes sunflower lecithin, a fatty substance that is extracted from sunflowers or sunflower seeds. According to Organic Facts, sunflower lecithin is good for lowering heart and liver inflammation as well as improving brain health and blood pressure.
Of course, the tincture also has full-spectrum hemp oil, which boasts many health benefits. Full spectrum means it contains the plant’s full-spectrum of benefits: terpenes, cannabinoids, and flavonoids. These all work together in a process that experts call the entourage effect. The entourage effect follows the idea that the compounds work better together, rather than separately. The full-spectrum hemp oil, according to Healthline, can relieve pain, reduce anxiety/depression, reduce certain cancer symptoms, help with acne, and more.
Broad-Spectrum Vanilla Tincture
Toastyy’s Broad-Spectrum Vanilla Oil contains 1,800 mg of CBD and no THC. It comes in the same brown glass bottle with the dropper cap. This one has a nice mild vanilla scent and tastes like vanilla.
The company recommends that users take a 1 ml dropper-full and leave it under their tongue for 20-30 seconds or until it dissolves. This should be about 60 mgs of CBD per dose.
The ingredients for this one are exactly the same as the previous tincture, except this one has vanilla flavoring instead of orange.
Vanilla itself has a variety of health benefits. According to Web MD, Vanilla can provide a calming effect, has antioxidant properties, and can even help ease toothaches.
While the formula does not contain THC, it does have a variety of other plant compounds, like CBG and CBN. According to Leafly, CBG is a common cannabinoid that may help with inflammation; could help fight cancer; and could be effective as an antibacterial agent. Additionally, CBN may also be an antibacterial agent, helps reduce inflammation, can be an appetite stimulant, and more, adds Leafly.
How do They Feel?
Toastyy’s tinctures are fast acting substances. I often use tinctures like these to alleviate anxiety and I felt relief in about 10 minutes or less. I tend to get pretty shaky, with a racing heart as my most prominent symptom, and these oils helped reduce those symptoms greatly.
It also helped just relax in general. After a long day of work, it’s nice to unwind with a bit of CBD, and without the psychoactive effects of THC.
