Finding a way to stay focused in our ever-changing, fast-paced world can be difficult. But CBD might be the answer people are looking for.
Many individuals have issues with focus due to a variety of things, including lack of sleep, anxiety, depression and more. However, CBD can boost focus by increasing serotonin production in the brain, and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression, according to Bespoke Extracts, an extraction company.
I personally have symptoms of anxiety and depression, and issues with focus in general, and so this week I tried out Toastyy’s Tinctures to combat those problems.
Toastyy is a Black, woman-owned CBD company aimed towards helping women feel like their best self.
Toastyy has two flavors of CBD tinctures, a Vanilla and an Orange. Both come in 900 mg versions and 1,800 mg versions.
Toastyy’s Tinctures — What’s in Them?
Both tinctures are made with fractionated coconut oil, non-GMO sunflower lecithin, and hemp. The Vanilla tincture contains a broad-spectrum blend, and is free of THC. The Orange tincture, however, is full-spectrum — it contains .3% THC or less. Additionally, the only other differences in ingredients between the two tinctures is what flavoring the company used in them. Lab tests can be found on the company’s website.
Fractionated coconut oil contains Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) which according to WebMD are beneficial for one’s brain health. Furthermore, there is evidence that MCTs reduce the risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Sunflower lecithin is a fatty acid made from sunflowers that, along with a variety of other health benefits, can also help with brain function and fight against dementia, according to Healthline.
Additionally, researchers are discovering that full-spectrum hemp oil has many benefits. For example, First Crop — a self-described public benefit company — explains that hemp is beneficial for the skin, pain relief, sleep, and anxiety.
All of these ingredients combined may not only boost health, but they also have the potential to enhance focus. But do the tinctures work?
The Results
As mentioned above, I suffer from anxiety and depression as well as issues with focus. I find it difficult to get started on tasks, and when I finally find the motivation, I often get sidetracked and struggle to concentrate.
I tried these tinctures a few different ways to help with focus. Both were 900 mg bottles, with one serving being 1 ml of liquid, 30 mg of CBD. Their lab tests are located here.
I began by taking the tincture on a day where I had tasks to do, but hadn’t started anything yet. I took a dropper full while laying in bed. After about 20 minutes, I felt more calm. While I got out of bed and got started on my tasks, I can’t say for certain it was the CBD.
I then took the tincture after I already started working; I felt distracted and just out of focus. So I took a break and took a dropper full. Again after about 20 minutes, I was calmer.
This time, I had more concentration than before. I was less distracted, and able to work for longer periods without breaks. I still got a bit sidetracked, but it was noticeably less — I can attribute that to the CBD.
Right now there are two flavor options, Orange and Vanilla. The Orange has a soft citrus flavor, just the right amount where it’s not obnoxiously tangy. The Vanilla has a slightly stronger taste that lingers a bit more. I preferred the Orange over the Vanilla, but I would use and recommend both.
For those looking for a way to reduce distractions and increase concentration without pharmaceuticals, I recommend trying Toastyy’s CBD oils. Not only are there many known benefits to CBD oil in general, but trying Toastyy means supporting a Black-woman owned business.
