Every cannabis user, even the most seasoned, has found themselves asking questions about the plant. When this curiosity strikes, it can be hard to find reliable resources or people to ask about cannabis. For example, many are hesitant to use their personal social accounts to learn more or spread their love around cannabis because of family, friend, or workplace judgements. Too often, they are afraid that even interacting with a cannabis-related account would stereotype them as a “lazy stoner” and “pothead.”
Even if a person doesn’t have the mundane obstacles of judgements on their social networks, the platforms themselves make it hard for cannabis enthusiasts to connect with others and learn about it. But, in today’s world, a large majority of Americans get news and information on digital platforms and social media, according to the Pew Research Center.
Unfortunately, multiple platforms such as Instagram and Facebook have censored cannabis companies. What the cannabis community needed was an app with no stigmas or judgement.
Thankfully, Hi-Curious was created as a safe space to share and learn about cannabis for wellness.
Lauren Mundell, the creator of Hi-Curious, was one of those people that wanted to find out more about cannabis without any judgement after she saw her husband experience benefits from using it. Once she learned and experienced some of those benefits herself, Mundell wanted to find a better way for people to learn about cannabis in a way that she wasn’t able to.
From Idea to Reality
In 2019, Mundell had the idea to build a cannabis brand Hi-Curious. But, at the time, many often looked at cannabis as a “party drug” or something used for medical purposes only. This was also during the time when the App Store and Google Play banned almost all cannabis-related apps, which made the overall public stigmatize cannabis even further. It also halted the creation of Hi-Curious’ mobile app.
In reality, many find cannabis helpful to relieve pain or anxiety, boost their mood, and much more. Still, many people don’t know this and even think of cannabis as dangerous.
During March 2020, when COVID-19 was in full-swing, Mundell questioned how she would stay connected with the cannabis community, especially by being very limited on social platforms. Through perseverance and a passion to help others, she picked back up with the Hi-Curious Mobile App and the App store and Google Play store approved it a few weeks later. The Hi-Curious team celebrated with a 12-hour livestream event on 4/20/20 and hasn’t looked back.
Join the Community
Cannabis as a wellness supplement is at the core of the Hi-Curious mission. Everything behind Hi-Curious supports using cannabis as a way to improve life. The app offers 40 hours of live streaming cannabis lifestyle content each month. It also offers a variety of resources like blogs, live events, and connections to others. All one has to do is to set up a quick account, just like any other social platform. Then, they can join communities, attend events, and interact with other members on their feed. Members can also join live streams to connect with experts, brands and other community members in real time. For those looking to find a community of people that value cannabis as a wellness supplement, Hi-Curious is the place to be.
The app boasts a judgement-free environment. For example, members don’t have to worry about their unaccepting family or friends. This is because the people that join the app are enthusiasts. The lifestyle app also enables community leaders to monetize their expertise via coaching, workshops and subscriptions to content that is censored elsewhere. Hi-Curious Premium is the place to subscribe to premium content and everything happens within the App. Cannabis creators, entrepreneurs and brands can build meaningful communities and a sustainable income by sharing premium cannabis education and entertainment. The platform is a place for companies to connect with curious cannabis consumers that aren’t reachable elsewhere.
“Hi-Curious is about supporting people on their journey, whether they’re brand new or they’re looking for a community of like-minded people to grow with,” explains Mundell.
The Future of Hi-Curious
Mundell doesn’t plan to stop her involvement in the cannabis industry anytime soon. Instead, her goal is to establish Hi-Curious as a national brand. Expect to see wellness products, and eventually experiential retail and hospitality. Mundell plans to continue to create stigma-free places for curious consumers to learn how to incorporate cannabis into their lifestyles.
Want to learn more about Mundell, Hi-curious, and the benefits of cannabis? She’s written a book, High Curious, about her personal experience with cannabis and how it transformed her life. For those ready to dive into this community, become a member of Hi-curious now by downloading the app.
