Angela Arena and Her “Kind” Products
Stress is inevitable. Whether it’s the pandemic, political climate, or a family crisis – we all face difficult situations at one point or another.
That’s where Angela Arena comes in, and her company, Kind Lab.
Founded in 2018, Kind Lab is a “plant-based wellness company with solutions for women, by women,” according to their website.
From creating labels, to the actual manufacturing of goods, Kind Lab ensures all products are sourced from women-owned businesses, and endure a rigorous third-party testing process.
Consumers looking for industry products that provide a relaxing experience without the feeling of being high, may find relief in CBD, or cannabidiol.
Kind Lab
Many people who use CBD know there is an abundance of products on the market, yet few are targeted to those aged 40 and above. Many consumers feel confused by industry marketing and messaging, and can even see themselves not represented in the industry.
Fortunately, Kind Lab is geared primarily for women who are over the age of 40. The company is led by the belief that “women, who are caregivers, [should have a chance] to prioritize their own health and happiness,” said Angela.
Safety and ethical sourcing are Kind Lab’s top priority when crafting their products. Angela is unmistakably clear when describing the process, “All products are vegan and cruelty free, [and] we use organically grown and certified organic ingredients..”
While Kind Lab targets middle-aged women, the store, products and services are accessible and available to everyone.
The FoundHer
Although cannabis itself is still not a widely-accepted substance, it is much easier now to enter the industry than it was in 2018. That’s why it didn’t take long for Angela to understand why she wanted, more like needed, to build a brand “that spoke directly” to her and other like-minded women. She wanted a company that, “offered solutions that met [the] needs,” of herself and those around her. As she explained to Emerald, she values “natural, plant-based living, social and environmental consciousness.”
Angela is looking towards the future to open a consumption facility that focuses on THC-infused wellness solutions.
In fact, Angela is moving towards her goal as you read this. She is currently in the process of planting her foot in the Massachusetts retail space where she can distribute a full range of products. Her brainchild, Partake, will fulfill Angela’s original business mission.
Hurdles and High Hopes
Like many industry businesses, it hasn’t been easy sailing. Angela has faced the same challenges and difficulties others have in the industry.
Shadowbanning for example, is a common form of intended social media suppression. It is a tactic often used to subdue the cannabis industry for the messaging they put out.
Shadowbanning is defined as when “a user is muted or blocked on a social media platform (or forum), without receiving any official notification,” reports Hootsuite.
Shadowbanning is especially detrimental for emerging and small businesses. Simply put–out of sight, out of mind. If you can’t see the product, you don’t know about the product. And although they may deny it, social media platforms such as Instagram and TickTok, are known to practice shadowbanning.
Angela attested to the impact of shadowbanning on Kind Lab as the store has not gained one follower on Instagram in eight months. If anything, she says, she may have lost followers.
Fortunately, through all the plights, shadowbans and hurdles of the cannabis industry, Angela has pulled herself up by her bootstraps. She’s made contact with new reliable sources, one being a New York-based CPG group called Beyond SKU, that has come to the rescue with their packaging needs. This working relationship not only furthered Angela’s education with operating a business, but it in turn propelled Kind Labs to the next level.
In an industry that’s still developing itself, entrepreneurs like Angela help pave the way for all to live better with cannabis.
For those seeking strong relief from aches and pains, Angela specifically recommends the Relief Advanced Concentrate, which she described as the “most potent hemp product on the market.”
