When I took a trip to LA with my girls this March, a visit to The Woods WeHo, a cannabis lounge opened by Woody Harrelson, was at the top of our to-do list. Intrigued by all the buzz, we couldn’t resist diving in to see what this place had to offer. Here’s our take on this gem of a place and why it’s worth a visit.
About The Woods Cannabis Lounge
The Woods WeHo is the brain-child of actor and activist Woody Harrelson, comedian Bill Maher, ERBA co-founders Devon Wheeler and Jay Handal, interior designer Thomas Schoos, and Schoos Design CEO Michael Berman, according to the company’s website. Located on West Hollywood’s Santa Monica Blvd, the lounge is nestled among upscale eateries, entertainment venues, and shopping hotspots.
The 5,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor area of The Woods WeHo transports visitors from the city streets to a lush tropical retreat. It features cabanas, plush sofas and chairs, tropical birds, and a serene koi pond. Mature trees and lush gardens surround the space, making it the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a leisurely session with friends.
The attached dispensary offers a full menu featuring premium, organic, sun-grown California cannabis brands and a curated selection of accessories and smoking essentials to enhance the experience. Guests can enjoy their goodies in the rear outdoor smoking area, accessible with any product purchase or a $10 entry. Guests can rent private cabanas, which cost $50 to $225 per hour, depending on the day and time. For refreshments, the onsite bar offers cannabis-infused drinks, as well as non-infused options like coffee, tea, soda, and water. They also provide a variety of amenities like bongs, grinders, and more.
While California law prohibits the sale and consumption of cannabis on the same site as alcohol, there is a bar next door, Holy Water, with great options for a pre-game or night-cap. And when the munchies kick in, guests stop by the adjacent restaurant, La Boheme.
Here’s What my Friends Thought:
The Woods WeHo graciously hooked us up with the Treehouse Cabana, complete with everything from comfortable seating to beautiful views. I had my friends decide to pass around a notepad to truly capture the vibes. Here’s what they had to say:
“Streams”
The gentle babbling of the streams was so soothing we almost forgot we were not in the literal forest.
“Plants”
The abundance of greenery in the lounge made it feel like a mini jungle. It had a nice, natural vibe, like chilling in the middle of a botanical garden.
“Should go on a date here”
The ambiance was quite romantic. We almost started writing love notes to our pre-rolls.
“Intimate but public”
The vibe was like hanging out in your childhood treehouse, but with way more fabulous decor and weed.
“No having sex”
Quickly realized this wasn’t that kind of treehouse. Funny observation that somehow became a recurring note throughout the evening.
“Didn’t bring a card game”
Forgetful move, but we made do with charades and highly recommend doing the same.
“Love the fire pits”
Perfect for contemplating the mysteries of the universe.
“Jhene Aiko’s outfit”
Sadly, Aiko was not actually there. But, we watched her videos on the TV in the treehouse and wondered if she would approve of our makeshift fan club meeting.
“Lighting is dim and comfortable”
The lighting was so cozy.
“Those koi fish are going to f***ing kill me”
Some of us couldn’t seem to shake the feeling that the giant koi fish were plotting our demise – lurking in the pond like tiny aquatic assassins.
“This is a cover for those koi fish to kill us”
It also dawned on us that the koi fish were probably trained assassins hired by the government to take out anyone who asked too many questions.
“No gluten-free snacks”
Mildly disappointing for myself as I am allergic to gluten. We made do, but let this be a reminder to check the menu beforehand if you have any dietary restrictions.
“Can’t have sex here?”
Now we’re wondering if the koi fish are monitoring our thoughts on that, too.
“High ceilings”
Made us feel like we were in a castle.
Foliage”
The lush foliage created a very serene atmosphere.
“Beautiful furniture”
The furniture was so stylish and comfy that we could’ve engaged in some parallel napping here.
“They have blankets”
Perfect for snuggling up or having deep philosophical conversations about the meaning of life.
Final Impressions, Memories Made
Our visit to The Woods WeHo was nothing short of enchanting. From the moment we stepped into the space, the comfortable, cozy atmosphere epitomized serenity. The prices were reasonable, the decor was to die for, not to mention the koi pond, which added to the serene and provided a picturesque setting. For those seeking a romantic evening, a cozy hangout with friends, or a moment of peaceful solitude, The Woods offers a unique escape into a verdant paradise.
The only potential downfall, if you ask me, was not providing a more inclusive menu of foods/snacks. While the ambiance and setting were exceptional, having more dining options would have enhanced the overall experience. Despite this, The Woods stands out as a must-visit for anyone looking to unwind in a beautifully curated environment.
