A French-Californian Solution to Munchies

June 1, 2022 by Erin Egan Leave a Comment

Madame Kim Geraghty’s Delicious Creations

Madame Munchie, an LGBTQIA+-owned company founded in 2014 by Kim Geraghty, earns revenue through both the cultivation and retail aspects of cannabis. Using their sungrown cannabis from Geraghty’s family farm in the Mendocino Forest, Madame Munchie creates delicious edibles that taste as if they are straight from the cafés of France.

Geraghty dreams up these authentic French desserts by drawing from her personal experience growing up in Paris. The results are incredible, as evidenced by Madame Munchie’s several awards from the cannabis community.

Edibles for Everyone!

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Geraghty aims to form a space where everyone is welcome. According to an interview published in HerCannaLife, Geraghty aspires to use her success to “encourage other women to go after their dreams and put themselves out there, even though it can feel difficult at times.”

Along with supporting other women and LGBTQIA+ community members, Madame Munchie engages in local philanthropy. A portion of their sales revenue goes towards School on Wheels, a charity based in Los Angeles that supports disadvantaged children.

From award-winning macarons to gummies and prerolls, everyone can find something they love at Madame Munchies (even vegans!).

Tolerance levels differ from person-to-person, and Geraghty understands this. That’s why all of Madame Munchie’s products include recommendations for consumption. According to their website, Madame Munchie’s macarons typically offer a higher potency, with 40 mg of cannabis, while their gummies only contain 3.5 mg.

Geraghty wants everyone to experience the whimsical feeling of her desserts. In an interview with Toast Magazine, she explains her beliefs: “We’re all children who are older. We’re not really ‘grown up’ ever, or if there is such a thing. We’re trying to have some fun [with] our edibles.”

A desire for universal inclusion is apparent in Geraghty’s work; everything she does reflects the company’s mission statement – a wish to “create happiness.” According to their numerous awards, Geraghty and Madame Munchie seem to be doing just that!

Award-Winning Products

The High Times Cannabis Cup, which decides winners based on “appearance, taste, independently-verified potency and…ratio of satisfying bite to desired dosage” (via Delish), reviewed Madame Munchie in 2014. Even though the company had just been founded and they only had one client, the panel at the Cannabis Cup awarded Madame Munchie the first-place prize in the ‘best edibles’ category. From that moment on, the delicious desserts spread to over 50 dispensaries across California.

From there, Madame Munchie collected awards, winning a number one prize in various contests for almost seven straight years (2014-2021, with the exception of 2018). Whether it was for best edible (from Happy Place Fest and others), best dessert (Hempcon), or best new infused product (Cannawards), Madame Munchie exploded.

The macarons have consistently been their most acclaimed product, and the majority of their contest submissions have included five different flavors. Macaron flavors vary throughout the year, according to the Madame Munchie website, but the best-sellers include Hazelnut Mocha, Citrus a l’amande (orange zest and almond flavored), Tropical Jungle (chocolate and banana flavored), Green Gold (pistachio flavored), and Grilled PB&J.

The macarons have not won based on flavor alone, either. The way that Madame Munchie decorates them is a sight to see.. Their Tropical Jungle is tie-dyed, the Green Gold includes edible gold flakes, and the Grilled PB&J includes grill marks pressed into the side.

Crafting The Perfect Munchie

Miss Munchie’s products, which also include cannabis-infused peanut butter, coconut oil, and a Nutella-like product called ChocoHaze, are created with full-spectrum cannabis. This type of cannabis includes THC (what gives consumers a ‘high’), CBD (which is often related to bodily relaxation), and other cannabinoids.

Also from her interview in Toast Magazine, Geraghty attests that the combination of all the naturally-occuring parts of cannabis “…allows the product to have a more well-rounded impact,” helping to obtain “…a closer experience to what the plant is trying to provide.”

The way that Madame Munchie mixes full-spectrum California cannabis with the French baking skills of Geraghty propels their desserts and products to the next level, creating the perfect French-Californian snack to satisfy your munchies.
