Bordering the Sinkyone wilderness in Mendocino County, California, only nine miles from The Lost Coast of the Pacific Ocean, is Lost Paradise Organics farm. Lost Paradise is a family-owned and operated business with high regards for the plant and the people.
Lost Paradise Farm’s Beginnings
Owners Yeins and Josh Chestnut harnessed a vision to bring recreational cannabis to the public in 2018. They established their operations with the desire to offer clean, affordable, quality flower directly to retailers in California’s legal market.
Their passion for the plant has been a lifelong commitment. They realized they had a shared love for the plant when they first met back in 1999, and shared their first joint together on a beach in Costa Rica. They knew then that their love for the plant would drive them to places where its truth is recognized. This is how their adventure in life as a couple started along with their reverence and appreciation for fine cannabis.
Their visits to Jamaica also inspired them. There, they learned about cultivation methods, landrace genetics and different hash-making techniques. The Chestnuts appreciate their hash-making lessons the most. They acquired those skills while visiting the homesteads in Jamaica where farmers extracted the live resins using rudimentary methods passed down through generations. Their passion was in the early stages of what was to come.
Then in 2007, they came to Northern California. The deep roots and freedom of expression that they found amongst the cannabis community amazed them. So, they settled in the mountain town of Whitethorn, located near the Southern Humboldt and Northern Mendocino County border. Soon after, the Chestnuts established the Lost Paradise Organics farm.
Guided by Nature
Lost Paradise Organics is guided by nature’s biodynamic cycles. The seasons, the moon, the sun, clean air, clean water and tender, intentional care are priorities at the farm. These factors facilitate a thriving environment, which are crucial for a successful end harvest to a final end product. Consumers will most surely taste, smell and feel the difference when trying craft, organic cannabis.
The farm grows its flowers outdoors in full sun and in greenhouses for the light deprivation. Plants cultivated from seeds are sprouted in early spring and the selection is done leaving only the females. The females will grow up to 10 ft high by late summer and mature by October, sometimes even later. This combination of factors like special genetics, the long intake of nutrients, and natural sunlight gives also these flowers their special potency. It brings them to mouth-watering ripeness.
The farm’s growing techniques are regenerative at every step. As such, the company amends their soil with compost they make onsite. Lost Paradise Organics creates the compost using their own native components. Ingredients include oak, madrone and pine leaves, which makes these flowers even more unique for their compound profiles.
The farm uses only renewable sources for their water and electricity necessities. For example, to ensure a fully regenerative experience, Lost Paradise installed rainwater catchment and solar systems. This also helps ensure that consumers can support local producers that care for the environment.
Satisfying the Most Demanding Connoisseurs
Altogether with the production of cannabis, fresh vegetables and the animals that nourish the farm, the land feels like an ideal place for the family to create exquisite cannabis varieties with the main objective of satisfying the most demanding connoisseurs.
Lost Paradise Organics offers flower, ice water hash (aka bubble hash), and pre-rolls that combine two strains in every six pack. The ice water hash is made in collaboration with licensed manufacturers. They select cured flower with high terpene profiles to obtain the desired quality for the hash.
From seeds and plant cuttings, to the final product — all production is natural and organic. They select the best genetics from renowned, local Emerald Triangle breeders, while also using their skills to breed their own exotic seeds. That makes the experience for consumers even more unique and satisfying when knowing that the company cares for every single detail of the production.
The company only releases whole compound, final tested products made in artisanal ways. This maintains the plant’s full spectrum of compounds. Additionally, they never use any artificial, generic additives or extraction methods that compromise the product’s purity or the health of its consumers. “Staying True to The Plant” is one of the company’s mottoes, after all.
Their mission is based on their belief in the plant’s unlimited power and goes beyond their own company’s benefits. For them, social equity tops their list, taking into consideration the most vulnerable. They recognize the importance of supporting local non-profits and causes that bring knowledge, prosperity, equity and de-stigmatization to the plant and communities who use it.
When craving the best cannabis, look to Northern California. Lost Paradise Organics will be here when consumers are ready to give it a try!
