These products are meant to be moisturizing, but are they too moisturizing?
This week I tried out two topical products from DeepCBDs, a company whose mission is to bring high-quality hemp products to people without making them high. Their products are third-party tested, and GMO-free. Additionally, DeepCBDs only get their products from federally compliant hemp growers. This means that the hemp growers have to follow all the guidelines provided in the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized hemp.
DeepCBDs’ Fortify and Balance Day + Night Face Cream
1-ounce jar /20 mg of CBD
$34.99
The Fortify and Balance Day + Night Face Cream is a moisturizing face cream made with 20 mg of CBD. The instructions say to apply it twice daily, morning and night, to a clean face. It is best for dry or combination skin.
It comes in a tall glass bottle with a plastic pump. The company does not provide a scent for the cream, and I didn’t catch a particular aroma — aside from a plasticky smell. Although it was so subtle that it was not off-putting for me. For that reason, I believe this is a great product for those who are sensitive to scents.
The cream is supposed to reduce wrinkles, hydrate the skin, and kill bacteria. The company makes their Fortify and Balance Day + Night Cream with ingredients like Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide -7, which according to Cellular Skin Rx, a skincare company, reduces inflammation and slows down the aging process.
DeepCBDs explains that the antioxidants in the cream help fight against free radical damage. According to Healthline, free radicals — which are found in air pollution or smoke — are oxygen-containing molecules with an uneven number of electrons. The uneven number of electrons can cause them to try to bind to and react easily with other molecules.
We need free radicals to help fight against pathogens, but sometimes an excess of them causes damage to skin cells and contributes to aging. Antioxidants help the free radicals not be so reactive, and in turn, they slow down the facial aging process.
The Face Cream’s Test Results
This face cream is also infused with CBD or pure hemp extract. The lab results confirm that there are no pesticides and that there is about 21.9 mg CBD total. There is no THC in it. That’s roughly 9% more CBD than advertised.
Research shows that cannabis-infused products should contain a range of +/-10% of the CBD content that is advertised on the product’s label. Those that fall within 10% of what’s labeled earn an “A;” 20% earn a “B;” 30% earn a “C;” and 31% or more earn an “F.”
Because it falls within 10%, this would earn an “A” rating.
My Thoughts
I used this cream every morning for about a week. I have combination skin, which leans more towards the oily side. So I did not apply it at night because I use medicated face cream before bedtime to help with acne.
The cream’s texture is that of a normal moisturizer; it isn’t too thick or too thin. But, it is a bit too oily once applied. When I put it on my face, for instance, my skin didn’t absorb it completely — even after rubbing it in. As a result, it left a thin layer on my face. Overall, I found this product to be slightly too moisturizing for my combination-to-oily skin.
I didn’t wash my face until nighttime because I wanted to test the wearability of the cream. Throughout the day, my skin felt very oily. I noticed a significant shine on my face when glancing in the mirror. Extra oil on my skin makes me breakout, unfortunately.
While I did experience a breakout, I don’t think it was entirely the oil’s fault. However, I believe this product is not made for combination skin as advertised by the company. I will say that it was very moisturizing and gave my skin a nice glow. But I recommend DeepCBDs’ Face Cream to people with dry skin. I even imagine that it could replace a daily moisturizer, and help prevent dry skin from flaking when applying makeup.

Cool Relief Soothing Aid Cream + Menthol
30 ml Jar / 50 mg of CBD
$34.99
The Cool Relief Soothing Aid Cream is infused with 50 mg of CBD. It comes in a small glass jar with a screw-on top. The opaque yellow cream has a slight menthol scent, but it is not overpowering.
Like the Day + Night Cream, the Deep CBDs Soothing Cream is supposed to block free radicals, kill bacteria, provide UV protection, promote pain relief, and hydrate the skin.
The lab test results confirmed that there were no pesticides found in the product, and that it contains about 56.7 mg of CBD. That’s 13% more CBD than advertised. As such, this product would earn a “B” accuracy rating.
Aside from CBD, the product has many pain-relieving and skin healing ingredients such as Arnica Montana Extract, sunflower seed oil, and peppermint oil. The directions say to rub it on and massage it into your skin until it soaks in completely. Results should kick in in 15-30 minutes.
I gave this to my friend to try who has wrist pain lately. She noted that it had a creamy texture that applied smoothly. However, it was pretty oily, which left a residue and took a long time to absorb into the skin. She said this wasn’t too much of a problem though, because it gave her an excuse to really massage the area.
She noticed pain relief after about 15 minutes. It took her wrist pain from a three out of five down to a zero. Overall, she said this was a pretty decent pain relief product, but she’s had products that she liked better and were less oily.

Are DeepCBDs Products Worth it?
Overall, the prices for these products were pretty average when compared to other CBD-infused face creams and pain relief products on the market. But many products at this price range or slightly higher had a lot more CBD in them. So when looking at it from that perspective, these price points are kind of high for how little CBD is in them.
But the products themselves worked well and did what they were supposed to do. Because of that, I recommend them to others to try.
