Headliner: NOW IS THE TIME TO ADD YOUR FARM, BUSINESS OR ORGANIZATION TO THE 2019 LOCAL FOOD GUIDE

2019 LOCALLY DELICIOUS LOCAL FOOD GUIDE is being developed now.

The 3rd annual Locally Delicious Local Food Guide is being updated.  Now is the time to add new local food producers, restaurants, retail, and classes.  The Local Food Guide helps you find the freshest and most delicious food grown, raised and produced on the North Coast of California.  This next year the 2019 Local Food Guide will add a new section:  Education and Food Classes.  Locally Delicious has published and distributed the second free edition of The Local Food Guide for Del Norte, Humboldt Counties throughout 2018.

The Local Food Guide is a resource for both the local community residents and visitors. It includes a guide to our local food resources, useful information on our regional food system, and hints for eating well on a budget locally (even in the winter). You will find information about places to buy directly from farmers, and places to harvest your own food; restaurants and groceries that feature produce, meat, fish, dairy, beverages and packaged food products, and food related events.  A new section for 2019 will be added on Education and Classes on local food, gardens, preservation etc.

Listings include:

  • Farms, ranches, fisheries, farm stands, U-Picks, Farmers’ markets and community-supported agriculture (CSAs) farms
  • Grocery stores and restaurants featuring locally grown and produced food and drink
  • Restaurants that source their food locally
  • Local packaged foods and cheeses
  • Wineries, breweries, cideries, distilleries, and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Food-related events
  • Community gardens, Community farms
  • Education about Local Food, Classes

Now is the time to contact Locally Delicious to update your information, or add information to the Local Food Guide for 2019.  The deadline for content is Nov. 30, and the 2019 Local Food Guide will be produced and distributed early Spring 2019. Contact ann@locallydelicious.org to update listings, or to sponsor the guide.  Sponsorships help make the guide free to all.  Over 15,000 copies are distributed free yearly.  The investment in supporting the Humboldt and Del Norte local food system is an economic, environmental and equity win for farmers, producers, and local eaters.

For copies of the Local Food Guide you can distribute through your business or organization, contact ann@locallydelicious.org

The Locally Delicious ‘Heirloom Tomatoes’ have actively supported our local healthy food system for the last eleven years.  They published ‘Locally Delicious’ a recipe book and introduction to our local food system, and ‘Lunch Box Envy’ a book for families on cooking and nutrition.  The women have raised almost $100,000 in the community to support the Food for People’s Farmers Fund, which allows the food bank to contract with local farmers to supply healthy produce to neighbors in need.  Locally Delicious recognizes restaurants that source local food with a ‘Locally Delicious’ Tomato seal, so that we can all recognize and support those restaurants and farmers.  Locally Delicious is committed to equity and the economic and environmental sustainability of the local food system.  www.locally-delicious.org
