Here’s a new recipe for great skin; add a Little Flower.
This week I tried out three luxury skincare products from Little Flower Hemp company. They are a mostly woman-owned, Colorado-based hemp business that grows and processes all their own hemp. All Little Flower Hemp products have 0.3% THC in them so they are non-psychoactive.
Little Flower Hemp’s GLOW Serum
$114 for 1 ounce jar
The first product I tried was a skin serum called GLOW, which the company “designed to make you radiant.” It comes in a 1 ounce (30 ml) jar with 150 milligrams of whole plant extract, and is priced at $114. The small bottle has a screw on cap, and no dropper so you have to apply the product using either your hands or your own tools.
This product is very oily. So if you have naturally oily skin, this may not be the product for you. The serum went on smoothly and made my skin feel as radiant as the bottle suggests. I used the serum twice a day as recommended, both in the morning and at night after washing my face. I liked the way my skin felt as the week went on; it was soft, smooth, and hydrated.
The bottle also suggests you can use it in your hair, though I did not use it for that.
It has a sweet oily scent that’s hard to pinpoint as there are so many different oils mixed in including Argan oil, camellia oil, Jojoba oil and hyaluronic acid. The scent does not last long after applying the product.
Fresh Body/Face Soap
$62 for a 4 ounce bar
The second product I tried was a bar of body/face soap called Fresh. The 4 ounce bar comes in a small, circular aluminum container, and is stamped with a cute hemp leaf design on it. It has 500 mg of hemp in it, and retails for $62.
The soap has a citrusy aroma that does not linger too long after use. I found it difficult to use to wash my body. It did not slide smoothly over my skin like other bars of soap do. The bar kept sticking to my skin, and it didn’t lather very much.
After using it my skin felt very dry, and even though I washed thoroughly, I noticed later that there was still some soap residue left on my skin. I wish it had worked better because I did really enjoy the scent, but I feel like it is too difficult to apply or use on a daily basis.
Peace Healing Ointment
700 mg hemp
$75 for 2 ounces
The last product I tried was a salve, or healing ointment called Peace. It has 700 mg of hemp, is priced at $75, comes in a 2 ounce bottle, and is advertised for cracked skin. It also reportedly “works well on burns,” though I fortunately did not have any burns to test this on.
The first thing I noticed when opening the ointment was its strong, musky scent with a hint of lavender. If you like more “feminin” scents, this product might not be for you. The scent is powerful and lingers for a few hours.
I used the salve directly after showering and using the bar of soap, so my skin was very dry. The slave has a buttery consistency, and does not apply smoothly like lotion does. But it made my skin feel smooth and slightly shiny.
My favorite product was the GLOW skin serum, but I would use the salve again. However, I think the prices are very steep for these products, especially considering there are other hemp serums on the market that range from $15 to $25 each. In fact, I was shocked when I saw the 1 ounce serum’s price tag ($114).
However, the fact that this is a mostly woman-owned company, and they grow all their own hemp, is a plus. Overall, I would not recommend these products to other people unless I know they have money to spare.
