Halloween, the holiday that used to be all about trick or treating and costume parties, is right around the corner. Amidst the pandemic, however, the holiday has become yet another excuse to roll one up and prepare for endless movie binging. Here is Emerald’s list of Halloween-themed strains to try this spooky season.
Ghost OG
Ghost OG is a 70% Indica, 30% Sativa hybrid strain cut of OG Kush, according to Leafly. It’s known for its strong body effects. It is widely used medicinally for a variety of symptoms including anxiety, chronic pain, sleep, and stress.
Frankberry
Frankberry is a hybrid strain known for its immediate effects such as relaxation, and easing of body tension. This strain has a relatively high CBD content of 4% and medical benefits include controlling nausea, muscle and joint pain, and stress.
Durban Poison
Durban Poison is a delicious sativa with a relatively high THC content of 24%. It has a sweet smell with strong energetic effects making it perfect for an at-home costume party.
Black Widow
Black Widow has been one of the most famous and popular strains in the world since winning the 1996 Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. This slightly indica-dominant strain (60%) is known to pack a punch, with most people describing the effects as euphoric and uplifting.
Jack the Ripper
Jack the Ripper is a 70% sativa, 30% indica hybrid strain from Subcool’s The Dank seed bank. It offers a euphoric yet calming high that can be beneficial for chronic pain, appetite and more. Expect a head high with notes of citrus and lemon.
Zombie Kush
Zombie Kush is the 1st Prize Indica winner of the 2016 UCLA CUP. It is an exotic mix of Amnesia, Lavender Kush, and Bubba Kush. Expect a relatively long lasting high full of relaxation, munchies and giggles with this one.
The Blood
The Blood is a pure sativa stain from Hawaii named for its red leaves and stems — very fighting for your horror movie night. It’s very rare, though, and has become something of a myth among growers.
We love to get festive with weed. What’s your favorite Halloween strain to celebrate with?
