Mexicanna Dreams
According to a story by Milenio, Mexican lawmakers in the Chamber of Deputies have agreed to ask the Senate for a delay of a discussion surrounding federal cannabis laws until February. The protracted timeline would allow for leaders to iron out the regulatory framework of the bill to legalize adult-use cannabis in Mexico.
Jersey Devil’s Lettuce
New Jersey Assembly Judiciary Committee lawmakers have advanced bill A5084 to reduce penalties for psilocybin possession, reports NJ.com. The new legislation would reclassify possession of up to 1 ounce of psilocybin as an offense “punishable by up to up to six months imprisonment, a fine of up to $1,000, or both.”
Medical Reef-search
On Wednesday, December 9th, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Medical Marijuana Research Act, otherwise known as bill H.R.3797. The bill, which now goes to the Senate, would allow the expansion of scientific research and alleviate obstacles impeding the current medical cannabis landscape. According to Politico, the bill passed with strong bipartisan support.
