Pre-rolls often get a bad reputation for being packed with leftover trim or lower-quality flower. But Florette is one of the New York brands trying to change that perception. Built around a whole-flower philosophy, the company has earned a loyal following for pre-rolls that prioritize flavor, quality, and a consistently smooth smoke. In a market where convenience products are often treated as an afterthought, Florette positions its pre-rolls closer to craft flower than a quick grab-and-go option.
Florette Exotics Sour Face Pre-Rolls
$32 – $46 per 4 grams
Sour Face is an indica-dominant hybrid (70% indica, 30% sativa) bred from Sour Diesel and Face Off OG BX1. It opens with the unmistakable aroma of pungent diesel, layered with earthy and slightly herbal notes that carry through the entire smoke.
The quality of this flower was impressive. Florette uses whole buds instead of trim or shake, and it shows. The pre-roll burned slowly and evenly. It left a clean ash and delivering rich flavor from the first light to the final puff. The high settled in gradually, with a calming body buzz, leaving just enough mental clarity to enjoy the moment. I enjoyed it with friends on the beach. But it would have also been a great choice for evenings or low-key weekends. It’s not an overpowering strain. But it has enough presence to shape the mood of a session in a noticeable way.
There was also a subtle shift in flavor as my sesh progressed. Starting with that sharp diesel-forward hit, things eventually softened into something earthier and slightly more herbal on the backend. No complaints flavor-wise.

A Look at the COA
Florette backs up its whole-flower philosophy with a clean certificate of analysis (COA). Sour Face passed testing for pesticides, heavy metals, microbial contaminants, mycotoxins, water activity, moisture content, cannabinoids, and terpenes. That gives consumers confidence that the flower meets New York’s rigorous safety standards.
Potency came in at 28.19% total THC with 0.08% CBD, alongside 0.73% total terpenes. While THC gives the baseline for strength, the terpene profile is where the character of this strain really shows up in practice. It also helps explain why the experience feels more grounded than cerebral, despite the relatively high THC percentage.
The dominant terpenes are β-caryophyllene (0.39%), α-humulene (0.17%), and α-bisabolol (0.08%). On paper, that reads like a peppery, earthy, slightly floral profile—but in the smoke, it translates into something that tempers the sharper diesel edge of Sour Face while reinforcing its grounding, body-forward effects.
About Florette
Florette is a family-owned cannabis brand founded by father-daughter duo Luis and Bri Delgado, who set out to create premium New York-grown flower without compromising on quality. While Luis oversees the legal side of the business, Bri leads the brand’s creative vision and day-to-day operations. That gives Florette a distinctly personal touch that’s reflected in everything from its genetics to its packaging.
Operating out of a 90-acre mixed-light greenhouse facility in Wellsville, New York, Florette is part of a growing wave of in-state cultivators shaping New York’s legal cannabis landscape from the ground up. Their focus is on controlled, consistent environments that blend natural sunlight with supplemental lighting, allowing them to maintain year-round cultivation without sacrificing terpene expression or flower integrity.
What really defines Florette’s approach is its emphasis on genetics and post-harvest handling. The brand maintains a curated library of strains ranging from classic cultivars to newer exotic crosses, with a focus on expressive terpene profiles and balanced effects. They hand harvest and carefully cure every plant, with an attention to detail that carries through into the final product.
Their pre-roll philosophy is where that commitment becomes most visible. Florette’s “no trim, no shake” approach means they fill pre-rolls exclusively with whole flower and never leftover material or ground trim. The same terpene-rich buds found in their jars end up in the joints, resulting in a noticeably more aromatic, flavorful, and consistent smoke than many mass-produced pre-rolls on the market.
Final Thoughts
Florette’s Sour Face may not have been the hardest-hitting flower we’ve smoked this year, but it impressed me with its smooth burn, flavorful smoke, and consistently enjoyable experience from start to finish. The effects were relaxing without feeling overwhelming, making it an easy pick for a laid-back evening.
What really elevates this product is value. At $32 for 4 grams of whole-flower pre-rolls, it’s a strong offering in New York’s market, especially considering the attention to flower quality and construction.
Florette is not chasing intensity or novelty; it’s aiming for reliability, craftsmanship, and a pleasant smoking experience. And in that lane, it succeeds. It’s the kind of pre-roll consumers reach for when they want something dependable rather than something that dominates the entire day.
