“Sasquatch and the farmer have something in common. Most people will never see them. A farmer goes unnoticed most of the time and most people miss the connection that what they are eating was nurtured all the way to their table” says Brandon Jenkins, founder of Sasquatch Soil, a California-based organic soil company.
With the goal of restoring peace between the plant-farmer relationship, Sasquatch produces a living, plant-based diet, and sustainable soil that anyone can use (especially cannabis farmers).
But, what makes Sasquatch Soil so special?
The Sasquatch Difference
Soil is the lifeline of all things that grow from the ground. Without effective soil, it’s hard for any plant to live, let alone prosper.
Sasquatch’s soil is specifically built with the relationship of plants and soil in mind. With their ingredients, they focus on building a robust soil biology.
These ingredients include all-natural compost, Emerald peat, forest humus, perlite, volcanic rock, composted rice hulls, worm castings, limestone, gypsum, kelp meal, trace minerals, humic acid, fulvic acid, compost tea, fish meal, and mycorrhizal fungi. The combination of these ingredients produces bacteria, protozoa, and nematodes that provide sustained fertility and healthy soil.
On top of the direct benefits to the plant, the company designed the soil to take much less water than most other soils. They did so in order to conserve water and time for the farmer, and reduce heat evaporation.
According to Sasquatch’s website, “it’s ability to retain moisture yet still remain lofty and well aerated is almost supernatural.” It’s a win-win for everyone involved.
The Sasquatch team doesn’t stop there. They are dedicated to innovation and finding new ways to be more sustainable and support the farmer. They do this constantly by harvesting varying samples and then mixing and matching natural ingredients at varying stages of decomposition, according to their website.
The Man Behind the Soil
Jenkins first love for the plant came when he interviewed Nick Hex and P-Nut from the band 311 on their tour in 1994. “Nick broke out the Northern Lights and loaded the bong…pretty surreal,” he said in an interview with Emerald.
That budding relationship with cannabis led him to be a medical cannabis grower years later. While working, he had a gut feeling that there was a need to shift to fully-amended, living soil for even better results. His intuition guided him to create Sasquatch Soil. Here, Jenkins’ personality and extensive experience are embedded in every part of the company as he produced the soil, completed deliveries, made sales, and established the brand by himself.
Delivery and Pricing

Sasquatch Soil’s new store, Totem Organic Supply, is located in Auburn, California — right below Grass Valley. Buyers can stop at the store or opt-in for delivery if they are located in California.
Relevantly, Sasquatch’s soil does not contain cocoa fiber or peat moss like most other soils. This way, the company only sources the soil in the U.S. and there are rarely any delivery postponements.

They currently offer two gardening soil options. The first option is two yard totes of soil that at $399.00. The other option for delivery is a bulk order that can be anywhere from $1,500 to $7,500, depending on the customer’s need.
