Cape & Plymouth Business Announces Cannabiz:  The Business Impact of Legalization

Summit featuring range of cannabis industry professionals to be held October 25 in Hyannis

YARMOUTH PORT and HYANNIS, MA, Cape & Plymouth Business, the only monthly business publication serving Cape Cod, the Islands, Plymouth County, and the South Shore of Massachusetts, recently announced the first summit of its kind to be held in the region, “Cannabiz:  The Business Impact of Legalization.”  This special event will be held on Thursday, October 25, at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa in Hyannis from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The goal of this summit is to provide entrepreneurs, business owners, and the “canna-curious” with knowledge, tools, and insights about the state of cannabis and related business opportunities in the Commonwealth.  Experts from various corners of the Massachusetts cannabis industry will share their knowledge and best practices to help attendees understand the current law and regulations, build a successful cannabis entity, and support those shaping local regulations and creating new cannabis-related businesses and jobs locally.

The summit will open with comments from Wendy Northcross, CEO of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, and will follow with four sessions.  Massachusetts Cannabis Commissioner Shaleen Title will present “Establishing the Perspective,” during which she will share the status of the current law and what is on the horizon that may impact the business community.  “The Entrepreneurs Panel” will be moderated by Master of Ceremonies Beth Waterfall (founder and president of cannabis marketing and events consultancy Beth Waterfall Creative and founder of ELEVATE Northeast) and will feature Aja N. Atwood, co-founder, Trella; Michael Dundas of Sira Naturals; Laura Boehner, founder, The Healing Rose; and Tim McNamara, principal, Holistic Health Group.  Kevin O’Reilly, COO of Triple M, and Keith Tibbetts, Director of Extraction and Processing, will then discuss “The Business of Medical Marijuana.”  The summit will conclude with Mitzi Hollenbeck of Citrin Cooperman and Adam Fine of Vicente Sederberg discussing “The Economic Outlook.”

“Regardless of how individuals voted on Question 4 in 2016, the now-legal cannabis industry in Massachusetts is a freight train coming down the tracks,” said Bob Viamari, publisher of Cape & Plymouth Business.  “Every business needs to prepare for the opportunities and roadblocks ahead as best they can, and we are happy to host this gathering of knowledgeable professionals who can help provide insights and guide the way forward.”
