Dispensary Profile: Vireo Health

April 10, 2021 by Sara Slaughter Leave a Comment

Vireo Health's line of cannabis vaporizers in different blends

Considering New York’s recent bill legalizing recreational cannabis, one can expect an explosion of cannabis dispensaries in the Empire State. Dispensaries such as Vireo Health have already found success distributing medical cannabis to patients suffering from pain and illness. Through an innovative delivery service and wide range of various cannabis products, Vireo Health aims to provide a convenient cannabis experience.

Vireo Health, a physician-led company, boasts four physical locations in the state of New York — White Plains, Queens, Albany and Johnson City. But the real innovation lies in Vireo’s “virtual dispensary,” a COVID-safe delivery service. They deliver cannabis capsules, oil and cartridges to anyone in the delivery radius with a valid NY medical cannabis card.

The online dispensary carries ground cannabis flower, vape cartridges, extracts, edibles, tinctures, and topical creams. Each Vireo location carries a different selection of product, so make sure to check out the online selection before making an in-person trip.

Vireo charges $50 for 3.5 grams of ground cannabis flower, though cannabis vape cartridges are pricier—$69 for 0.5 gram. These prices are slightly higher than the average prices of cannabis products from other sources in New York.

Committed to Community

Vireo Health was inspired by the CEO’s, Dr. Kyle Kingsley, belief that cannabis could provide a safe, natural alternative to over-prescribed opioids, especially for veterans. The company continues to raise awareness about the devastating effects of opioids and the potential for cannabis as an alternative.

Vireo is also committed to diversity and equity. Claiming to be one of the most diverse cannabis companies in the country, Vireo Health has lobbied in support of legislation that would help address the impacts of the War on Drugs on marginalized communities, and was the first cannabis company to sign the CEO Action For Diversity and Inclusion.

Innovative Delivery, Interesting Reviews

Though Vireo Health boasts high-quality products and customer service, the recent Yelp reviews tell a conflicting story. The Queens location boasts four and a half out of five stars on Yelp, and the White Plains location has a far lower score of only two stars. Unsatisfied customers complain about the costs and quality of the product, claiming overpriced products low in THC. Others complained about the customer service, citing late delivery, canceled orders, and incorrect stock information.

But Vireo Health seems to be aiming to correct these measures, according to the company’s responses to reviewers. Overall, their main strength is their innovative home delivery service, which provides relief to many who are unable to leave their home.
