Winter is the perfect season to cuddle up on the couch for days on end. For the consumers who are anything like us over at the Emerald, they’re probably adding a cup of hot cocoa and a joint to that mix. Here’s our list of festive winter strains to help light things up this holiday season.
Permafrost
Bred by Rogue Buds, Permafrost is a 70-30 sativa-dominant hybrid created through the crossing of White Widow and Trainwreck strains. Permafrost is known for its beautiful frosted appearance and has a THC content of 18.5%.
3 Kings
Described by Leafly as the “holy trinity,” 3 Kings is a powerful strain best suited for more experienced smokers. It is bred as a combination of the five-star strains: Headband, Sour Diesel, and OG Kush. Users report that the strain — which is about two-thirds sativa and one-third indicia — is a great way to relieve anxiety or stress.
Sugar Plum
Sugar Plum is a sativa-dominant hybrid created by Stoney Girl Gardens. It is a cross between Hawaiian Haze Plum and Berkeley Blues. These buds yield the fruity aroma of fresh plums and offer a relatively active, upbeat high.
Royal Cookies
Royal Cookies is a rare strain created from a variety of California’s best Cookie genetics — including the strain, Forum Cookies S1 — according to Royal Queen Seeds. With a THC content of 23%, this strain packs a punch that is likely best for more seasoned smokers.
Kosher Kush
Kosher Kush is a popular indica-dominant strain bred by DNA Genetics. It is a favorite among those who suffer from insomnia and is the first commercial strain to have been blessed by a Rabbi. Not to mention, it was the winner of the High Times Cannabis Cup’s award for “Best Indica” in 2010 and 2011, as well as “Best Strain” in 2011.
Silver Kush
Silver Kush is a rare sativa-dominant bred by DNA Genetics. The strain is created through a cross of Silver Bubble and OG #18, and boasts a 70%-sativa, 30%-indica profile,. It has a relatively high THC level of 22% and is known for its herbal, minty aroma.
Jack Frost
Jack Frost is a potent strain made by crossing White Widow and Northern Lights #5. This one is also known for its heavily frosted appearance, and THC levels reaching up to 23%. Medical patients report use for relief from symptoms associated with PTSD.
