Step into the world of unicorns — green unicorns to be exact. Customers won’t see any actual unicorns, but they’re guaranteed to find high-quality hemp tailored to their exact needs at Green Unicorn Farms.
Green Unicorn Farms is an online-based hemp flower retailer that focuses on sourcing the nation’s best smokable hemp flower. The company works with hemp farmers and cultivators around the country to create a one-stop-shop for consumers.
“I knew that when the Farm Bill was signed, you would have a lot of people rushing in to get a license so they can become permitted to cultivate hemp. We started seeing [that] as there were a lot of people that were kind of jumping in just one harvest season, then would jump out,” states Leonard. “[W]hen we saw that we thought, ‘that’s a problem for the consumer that we can lend a hand.’”
And by bridging that gap, Green Unicorn Farms really took off online, especially during the pandemic as more consumers shop online.
Green Unicorn’s Birth
Leonard and Hising met in Argentina in 2016. They both took their love and their concerns for the emerging hemp community into their own hands.
Operating Green Unicorn all online since they opened up, Leonard and Hising started building their brand and inventory as much as possible.
The name Green Unicorn is derived from the personal experience that both owners want their customers to have with their products.
“I think it’s so important, the self-discovery process for people,” Leonard says. “What we say is, you gotta find your own unicorn, you gotta find the strain that really matches you.”
In fact, their website offers a strain assistant tool that helps customers find what kind of effect they want to get from their hemp experience.
In the tool, visitors take a short quiz to see how they match up to certain strains, ranging from questions like ‘when do you want to consume CBD Flower?’ to “how you want to consume your CBD?” Once it’s complete, an email is entered and suggestions are sent to the customer.
Leonard says that some of his personal favorite strains are Lifter, Sour Space Candy, and Bubba Kush. His favorite pre-rolls are Paradise OG and Special Sauce. In terms of tinctures, he uses the company’s 3,000 full-spectrum CBD oil every day.
Leonard says that the company’s best-sellers are their bundles.
These bundles hold an assortment of CBD flower and pre-rolls. Bundes let the consumers get a little taste of everything before finding their personal strain. Green Unicorn offers a mix of strains in their products, so consumers can match them to what they need.
Green Unicorn’s bundle packs include a group of products, including flowers, pre-rolls, and more, all with a theme — whether that’s “Sour Strains,” “Compassion Bundle” or products for sleep or energy. The company also offers sample packs of popular strains
Leonard says the sample packs are inspired by customers, who often call to ask the company to recommend strains.
Passion for the Cannabis Industry
Leonard has been involved with the cannabis industry for over 16 years. He only plans to thrive even more, personally and professionally.
In fact, Green Unicorn is already giving back to the community, through the ALTRSM brand that Leonard and Hising created with the Sweeetleaf Collective. Separate from the original Sweetleaf Collective brand, Green Unicorn offers ALTRSM Smalls on their website.
ALTRSM Smalls are simply smaller amounts of hemp flower, offered at a smaller price, with a percentage of the profits going to the Sweetleaf Collective initiative. The collective gives back to lower-income people, veterans, and older Americans, giving them free compassionate cannabis to help with their chronic and terminal medical conditions.
Green Unicorn Farms also offers a 25% military discount.
More than anything, Leonard states that Green Unicorn Farms is establishing itself as a wellness brand, trying to help as many people as they can through the power of hemp. Leonard states, “We found our home online, and it’s been great for us as a company because we forge a real, intimate relationship with our customers.”
