Today, we see cannabis companies popping up left and right. Whether they’re in the business of flower, THC, or CBD, it’s a great time to enter the industry. This week we’re taking a trip to Midvale, Utah, where recreational cannabis has yet to be legalized. But where one door closes, another opens.
Farmer & Chemist is a Utah-based company that specializes in high-quality CBD regimens. Using methods of sustainable, conscious cultivation and extraction processes, Farmer & Chemist preaches the gospel of CBD’s medicinal benefits. Not only that, but they employ pharmacists to answer any questions a customer might have.
Farmer & Chemist boasts a multitude of CBD products, including energy drinks, phytocannabinoid-rich tinctures, lotions, face masks, and even pet products. We tried their CBD-infused gummies known as Gem Gems.
Coming in 30 counts and 15 counts with the option of 25 or 10 mg per gummy, Gem Gems come in a silver, cylindrical container. The label utilizes a color scheme of white, light blue, and black to make for an aesthetically pleasing case with beautiful artwork. On the label are the suggested uses, the product’s ingredients, and a QR code to scan for test results. Speaking of which….
Test Results
The test results regarding Farmer & Chemist’s 30 count of 25 mg Gem Gems reveal that the product is free of any pesticides, microbials, mycotoxins, heavy metals, foreign matter, and solvents.
Furthermore, the third-party test results back up Farmer & Chemists’ claim of 25 mg per gummy. Results indicate that this particular batch, a 30 count with 750 total mgs, had an even higher CBD content than indicated, as each gummy averaged 26.123 mg per unit.
With a CBD concentration of 11.407 mg/g, the affirmations made on the website and packaging are substantiated by the corresponding test results. Experts recommend that products — cannabis or not — should contain a margin of plus or minus 10% of what the company advertises. If it falls within 10%, it gets an A. But 20% gets a B; 30% a C; and 31% or more earns an F. Both Farmer & Chemist products earn As.

On their website, Farmer & Chemist says that CBD is all-natural, non-addictive, and has minimal side effects. Described as “the most convenient way to get your daily dose of CBD,” these Gem Gems may help the body deal with complications such as arthritis, anxiety, and insomnia.
Using an extraction process that takes advantage of the entire plant for a broad-spectrum oil, the gummies contain all phytocannabinoids and terpenes naturally found in hemp — except THC. As a broad-spectrum formula, it is devoid of any THC, a claim that the test results back up. According to the website, consumers can take these gummies to promote a calm feeling, or for pain relief.
The Moment of Truth
The label on the container suggests taking one 25 mg gummy at a time. The effect an edible can have on a person more often than not depends on their tolerance. My tolerance is a bit higher than average, so I opted to take two instead. More inexperienced users should definitely stick with the suggested quantity.
These gems come in three different colors: blue, green, and red. Each gummy is shaped like a jewel and has the letters “CBD” branded on it. The taste of the gummies themselves was strong. While I was able to taste a bit of the artificial gummy flavors, the taste of the CBD was overpowering, with an earthy and sour bite to it.

The effects of the gummies started to set in after about an hour, and boy were they delightful. I felt a wonderful sense of calm wash over me, as my body began to mellow out. The beauty of CBD is that much like regular flower, it’s able to soothe its user. The difference is that, unlike THC-rich bud, that euphoric feeling is much more physical and mental. For me, this was fantastic, as I was able to remain productive despite being under the influence.
The high itself lasted approximately two hours. I started to feel a bit sleepy towards the end, so I’d recommend taking this product at night rather than during the day.
Worth It?
As someone who’s grown up with anxiety, my experience with Gem Gems certainly supported the idea that people can use this product to counteract anxiety. Given enough time, resources, and research, CBD may very well be a legitimate solution to a plethora of mental illnesses.
Whether or not a 30 count of 25 mg CBD gummies is worth $84.99 is all up to who’s buying. Given other market prices, this specific batch of gem gems might be a tad expensive. Furthermore, anyone looking for a more intense high should probably spend their money elsewhere.
That said, these CBD gummies are perfect for more occasional users. Following the suggested use on the container can make a purchase like this last for months, depending on how often they’re used.
Overall I was very impressed by the effectiveness of Farmer & Chemist’s Gem Gems. Their website, advertising, and labels are clear and digestible, and the product itself backs up most if not all assertions the company made. Adding pharmacists to the staff further proves that this company knows exactly what they’re doing. Farmer & Chemist’s emphasis on transparency is a model that more businesses will hopefully follow in the coming years.
