Review: The Root Of It All Unwind Tincture

June 28, 2019 by Danielle Guercio Leave a Comment

Tinctures are so ubiquitous now that we sometimes tend to ignore them in the shop’s lineup. It feels like one of those “If you’ve tried one, you’ve tried them all” situations. When we got a hold of The Root Of It All’s take on the genre, we realized that things have come a long way since the first rec legal offering we tried in 2016, a pepperminty and glycerin-based, oversweet syrup. It was not ideal.

In an MCT (coconut-derived) oil base, The Root Of It All blends cannabinoids and potent essential oils to create cannabis tinctures that work synergistically with other herbs rather than only aiming to saturate your bod with THC. There’s a full variety of ratios, but our favorite was high-CBD and low-THC Unwind Tincture.

This tincture stood out right away for its inclusion of turmeric. Long a DIY inflammation buster—just like CBD—turmeric is a really useful tool in the kit of pain-fighting ingredients. Then, when you look at the other two essential oils in the mix, black pepper and clove, you realize that this is a thoughtful product. Black pepper is often included in turmeric formulations as more than a spice combo. Both are native to the Indian subcontinent and are used as pain relievers, and black pepper is purported to increase the bioavailability of turmeric by seven to eight times, according to Nutritionfacts.org.

Created with Ayurvedic principles, Unwind tastes pleasantly spicy, and with its 3:1 ratio of THC to CBD, it’s a pain sufferer’s friend.
