Snoop Dogg is blazing a new trail in the cannabis world with the launch of his very first licensed dispensary, Smoke Weed Every Day (S.W.E.D.), on July 14th, right in the heart of Los Angeles. Known for his deep connection to cannabis, Snoop is now making his mark on the legal scene with this cutting-edge retailer.
S.W.E.D. is a tribute to Snoop’s storied career and iconic label, Death Row Records. The space features a smoke-proof DJ booth where Snoop himself can spin tunes while toking, along with a treasure trove of memorabilia and vibrant graffiti tributes celebrating his legacy and contributions to the music and cannabis industries. With a lineup of cannabis products honoring his late friend 2Pac, Snoop Dogg’s new venture is set to be a vibrant hub where music, culture, and cannabis collide.
“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” Snoop said in a statement at the time, according to a report from the BBC. “It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is an extremely meaningful moment for me.”
S.W.E.D. is in Inglewood, directly between the SoFi Stadium and LAX, making it an ideal stop before entering the madness of the city.
Death Row Cannabis
This isn’t Snoop’s first rodeo in the cannabis industry. He previously launched a cannabis brand called Leafs By Snoop in Colorado and recently launched Death Row Cannabis in 2023—with new weed products at S.W.E.D. For those who can’t make it out to SWED in Inglewood, catch the 2Pac collection at Cookies dispensaries, operated by fellow rapper Berner, or a favorite local dispensary.
Launched in 2022, Death Row Cannabis is named after his famous recording label, and offers a variety of high-quality products. The brand includes a new line of products to honor 2Pac— featuring jarred cannabis flower like Alien OG. All Death Row Cannabis flower purchases come with one of four never-before-released collectible photos of 2Pac in front of a Death Row Records wall covered in graffiti. It also comes with a matchbook precisely recreated from the photo shoot. The exclusive release hit California dispensaries on Friday, July 19th.
Snoop has also advocated for reform, including calling for policy change at the NBA so players can freely consume cannabis off the court.
“I thought about that side and how certain players have been able to have a beautiful life after sports because of the fact that they’ve been able to treat themselves with that,” he said.
Expanding Globally
The Gin and Juice rapper has also taken his latest venture global—announcing the launch of a S.W.E.D. coffeehouse in Amsterdam. The cafe opened its doors on August 1st, featuring exclusive strains, edibles, and smoking accessories for consumption in the shop. It’s two stories are decorated aptly with graffiti and other artwork that honors Snoop’s legacy.
“Amsterdam has always embraced cannabis, and so have I,” Snoop said in a press release. “It’s only right that I bring S.W.E.D. global to this iconic city that understands the joy of great cannabis and a good time.”
Situated in Marnixstraat, S.W.E.D. is in a prime location for nightlife and culture. The ground floor welcomes visitors with a well-stocked retail area where customers can browse and purchase products. There is also seating for those who wish to enjoy their purchases onsite, amongst striking graffiti.
“What it do Amsterdam family?! If you’re in the area, make sure to stop by my new spizzot — S.W.E.D.! @swedstore.ams It’s not just another coffeeshop, it’s the official Snoop Dogg store!” noted the caption of an Instagram post showing off the new location. “Come kicc it with us, light up, and chill out in style.
