Visitors are drawn to Florida for its beaches, hot weather, and attractions like Walt Disney World. But the Sunshine State is also home to a blooming medical cannabis market. With that in mind, the next attraction that may be worth the stop is the medical cannabis dispensary Surterra Wellness.
Currently, Surterra Wellness has 39 stores throughout Florida, including one in Key West, and three stores in Texas. Surterra Wellness’s mission is well-being for all. To achieve this goal, they welcome customers to explore cannabis safely and with high-quality products. All their branded products are grown in their state-of-the-art facilities, the largest on the East Coast, without the use of harmful chemicals.
A Look Into Surterra Wellness’s Parent Company: Responsible Corporate Cannabis?
In October 2019, Surterra Wellness changed their corporate name to Parallel. The parent company currently owns and operates four dispensary brands in four different states, which makes it one of the biggest multi-state cannabis companies in the U.S.. Their storefront brands include: Surterra Wellness, Neta, The Apothecary, and Goodblend. In addition, Parallel also has a 10-year partnership with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine to conduct medical cannabis research.
According to a press release from the company, Parallel “will provide the university an initial $3 million in unrestricted grants,” which researchers will use to study “the efficacy and safety of medical cannabis with an initial focus on treating sickle cell disease symptoms, [and generalized anxiety disorders and chronic intractable pain].”
The statement further explains that, “Parallel will also dispense cutting-edge cannabis formulations to research study participants.”
Furthermore, Parallel’s website reports that the company is dedicated to corporate social responsibility. They support annual food and clothing drives, launched a Get out and Vote campaign in 2020, and created internal equity programs, according to their website.
Emerald reached out for further information about Surterra Wellness’s indidivual efforts, but did not hear back by press time.
What to Expect From Surterra in Stores and Online
Customers describe the experience at Surterra Wellness as relaxing. According to reviews on Weedmaps, they said that customer service was excellent, the staff was knowledgeable, and there was no pressure to purchase products.
In stores, customers can find a varied selection of flower, edibles, tinctures, and topicals. They carry brands such as Float, Surterra Wellness, Coral Reefer, Heights, and PAX. Surterra Wellness also offers delivery services in the Tampa Bay area in Florida. Orders must be over $100 to be eligible for this service, according to the company’s website.
Florida and Texas consumers can also apply for their medical cannabis card on Surterra Wellness’s website. Services include an easy three step process to obtaining a medical card. Since laws vary throughout the country and Surterra Wellness is only in two states, its website only offers information on Florida and Texas cannabis laws.
As the cannabis industry grows, it is important for dispensaries to provide a relaxing, unpressured, pleasing environment. But it’s also important to create equity and research. Surterra Wellness and its parent brand promises all these and more. That in mind, the question is, will the dispensary be the Sunshine State’s next attraction?
