Connecticut Officially Legalizes Recreational Cannabis
Just one week after lawmakers approved the legislation, Democrat Gov. Ted Lamont has officially signed Senate Bill (SB) 1201, making adult-use cannabis legal in the state beginning on July 1st, reports the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP). Adults 21 and over can then have 1.5 ounces on them and up to 5 ounces at home. Additionally, SB includes a plan to expunge records, and give 50% of license to equity applicants, MPP adds.
Rhode Island Advances Adult-use Cannabis Bill
On Tuesday, June 22nd, Rhode Island Senators approved Senate Bill (SB) 568, a bill to legalize recreational cannabis for those age 21 and over. The bill, which now heads to the House of Representatives for consideration, would allow possession of up to 1 ounce. It would also allow resident to grow six plants at home. Additionally, it would create and regulate legal retail sales, reports NORML. According to WPRI News, “The historic vote came on the same day that Connecticut’s governor signed marijuana legalization into law, leaving Rhode Island sandwiched between two states that have legalized cannabis for recreational use.”
Conan O’Brien Smokes Weed with Seth Rogen
This week marks the end of CBS’s light night talk show, Conan. To commemorate, the show’s host sat down with famed stoner Seth Rogen. During the interview, Conan hinted that he’d have a lot of downtime. To which, Rogen — who recently launched his cannabis company, Houseplant, this year in the U.S. — quickly recommended he smoke “lots of weed.” According to Marijuana Moment, “on cue, Rogen pulled a joint from his shirt pocket. He told the host that it “will be a great, weird show” if he smoked it. Rogen said later on Twitter, “[I] was legit terrified that I got him too high haha. (This was a surreal and shocking moment for me and [it] was genuinely unplanned).” Despite Rogen’s concern, it seems Conan — as some fans noticed — hit the joint like a pro.
