This year, the hemp-based distributor 3CHI has partnered with RCR (Richard Childress Racing) to become the first hemp-based producer to provide brand sponsorship among all major professional sports. During this partnership, their racer Tyler Reddick will be participating in various races with the No. 8 3CHI Chevrolet Camaro.
As Justin Journay, the founder and CEO of 3CHI, has commented:
“This is a unique opportunity to leverage a team partnership with one of the most iconic and innovative teams in NASCAR to help introduce 3CHI’s vast array of products to a passionate and dedicated fan base.”
3CHI and Their Products
3CHI produces edibles, vapes, tinctures, concentrates, and terpenes all of which is derived from hemp. Featuring products with Delta-8 THC, Delta-9 THC, HHC, and CBD, they can satisfy your cannabinoid needs; whether for recreation and medical purposes. So how did they become one of the leading Delta-8 THC distributors in the U.S.?
In the past few decades, THC had been a major target in efforts to ban cannabis. However, according to the National Public Radio (NPR), Congress had passed the Hemp Farming Act of 2018. This had allowed hemp to be grown if they did not contain a 0.3% concentration of Delta-9 THC. Due to this, many hemp growers had begun finding ways to make cannabis fall under this law’s restriction.
One major problem, however, was the testing methods to distinguish between Delta-9 THC and Delta-8 THC.
In a blog post by 3CHI, Justin Journay shared his thoughts on the issue:
“While 3Chi has always employed some of the most sophisticated lab testing methods available, almost every independent cannabis lab is making mistakes when testing for delta 8 THC. Some are overstating the presence of delta 9 THC and some of the labs are saying there is no delta 9 THC when there actually is.”
In September of 2019, researchers at 3CHI developed a method to extract pure Delta-8 THC from hemp. This led to 3CHI becoming the first in the U.S. to market legal THC products.
Delta-8 THC: What’s Different?
During a study on the properties of Delta-8 THC, researchers from the University at Buffalo and the University of Michigan had surveyed over 500 participants. In the survey, they were asked to compare it to other forms of cannabis. Two-thirds of them consumed it through edibles such as gummies and 51% used it to relieve anxiety or panic attacks, stress, depression or bipolar disorder and chronic pain. The results of the study had concluded that Delta-8 THC produced a much less potent high than Delta-9 THC while also reducing adverse side effects.
Delta-8 THC, while similar to Delta-9 THC, has very different effects due to how it binds to the endocannabinoid system. According to one article by Leafly, they both have double bonds that interact with the body to produce the high sensation. However, due to having a different location for this bond, Delta-8 THC is less potent.
Justin Journay comments on its benefits:
“Its effects are a perfect hybrid of CBD and delta-9-THC, giving it a similar buzz and all the medicinal effects of delta 9-THC without the laziness, anxiety, paranoia, or mental fogginess. Delta-8-THC users report feeling far more active and outgoing with increased confidence…”
Another upside of Delta-8 THC is being much more accessible and affordable than its counterpart, being federally legal.
3CHI’s Current Plans
According to the IBJ (Indiana Business Journal), 3CHI hopes to invest one and a half million dollars to expand its offices in Carmel and Indianapolis. They also plan on aiming for 90 new jobs by the end of this year and 270 new jobs by 2023. Currently, the company is employing around 300.
Previously, as OKMagazine notes, 3CHI had been given the best HHC Disposable Vape award in 2021. In addition, they also launched a new Delta-8 THC product line with even more refined THC oil.
