As Dry January rolls on, the struggle is real—how to stay social, unwind, and still wake up feeling fresh the next day. For those seeking a different kind of buzz, Wynk offers a THC-infused seltzer that’s all about keeping things light, balanced, and hangover-free.
Unlike many cannabis drinks that deliver a heavy-handed high, Wynk’s low-dose formula allows for customizable experiences catering to a wide range of consumers—from newcomers to THC to those just looking for a more mindful, controlled way to unwind. Their THC-infused seltzers offer a subtle, balanced effect with dosages that allow drinkers to “build their own experience.” And with zero calories and zero sugar, it’s a refreshing alternative to traditional drinks.
To celebrate making it half way through Dry January, we chatted with Angus Rittenburg, co-founder of the award-winning brand, to learn more about how they’re offering a new way to embrace the month without compromising on social enjoyment.
A Social Alternative Without the Hangover
Dry January is about more than just cutting out alcohol; it’s a chance to reset and rethink our habits. But that doesn’t mean we have to forgo the simple pleasure of a drink in good company. Many still seek the social ritual of sipping on something at a party or unwinding in the evenings, but without the hangover or sugar crash. That’s where Wynk fits perfectly.
The brand’s mission is simple: create a THC drink that seamlessly fits into social settings, offering a smooth, relaxing experience without the downsides of alcohol. For Rittenburg, who was not a cannabis consumer prior to establishing Wynk, his entry into the industry was shaped by his engineering background and a desire to offer a true alternative to alcohol.
In the early days of the cannabis beverage market, he was faced with the logistical challenge of producing drinks across multiple states, each with its own regulatory requirements. He saw an opportunity to develop a mobile canning system. The unique solution allowed Wynk to produce beverages on-site, at different facilities, while maintaining control over quality.
As the project evolved, what started as an interest in solving a production problem soon turned into a passion for creating a cannabis beverage that could fit seamlessly into social settings. His goal was clear: develop a low-dose THC drink that could offer a relaxed, alcohol-free alternative to traditional social drinking—something that would appeal to a broad audience, whether they were experienced cannabis users or new to the scene.
“[We wanted to] create a social, mainstream beverage product that you want to have a few throughout the course of the night,” Rittenburg told The Emerald. “You don’t want to be knocked out after one. You can build your own experience.”
Low-Dose, High-Social Impact
The key to Wynk’s appeal is its low-dose formulation.
Wynk’s signature seltzer contains 2.5 mg of THC and 2.5 mg of CBD, providing subtle yet noticeable effects without leaving consumers feeling “too high.” This makes it great for people new to THC, or anyone seeking a light way to unwind in social settings.
“A standard THC dose is 2.5 milligrams, and that is the level at which you start to detect some psychoactive effects,” Rittenburg says. “Ultimately, alcohol with that same standard equivalent is about a light beer. We have a 2.5 milligram drink that’s meant to stand in as a light beer in terms of effects and quantity.”
Wynk also offers a 1:1 5 mg version for a more pronounced effect.
This flexibility is appealing, Rittenburg explains. “The beauty of THC-infused drinks is that they affect you about as quickly as alcohol,” he says. “You can start with a lower dose and gradually increase it to get the effect you want. It’s all about customizing your experience.”
This ability to control dosage makes it easy to find the right level of relaxation or social energy.
“With THC, you don’t feel exactly the same the next morning. But it’s not even comparable to a hangover. So many consumers drink alcohol as a force of habit, having a glass of wine or a beer with dinner,” Rittenburg says. “Our really low-dose products meet that same goal or occasion, and you have no hangover at all. It’s a great solution for winding down, especially on a weeknight when you don’t want to be hungover the next day for work.”
“There’s a good contingent using them socially—small get-togethers, hangouts, and casual environments,” he adds. “But others are using them for different reasons, like as a nightcap before bed.”
Wynk’s Dry January Bundle
To make Dry January a bit easier, Wynk has curated special bundles featuring a combination of seltzers and gummies, offering a great way to explore different THC dosages. The company designed these bundles to help those looking for a healthier alternative to alcohol through the month and beyond, supporting a more mindful approach to relaxation.
They’re also running a Dry January giveaway for a $2,000 allowance toward a trip to a water park near you. Including two hotel rooms near an indoor waterpark, park admission for four, and six cases of Wynk, “It’s a way for people to get out, be social, have fun, do something wet during dry January,” says Rittenburg.
A Healthier Way to Unwind
Whether committing to Dry January or simply seeking a healthier way to unwind, Wynk offers a modern, balanced alternative for those looking to enhance their lifestyle without sacrificing social rituals.
“It’s all about wellness through social connection,” says Rittenburg. “Get out with friends and family, and have a beverage with you that isn’t as harmful.”
