The People on Pot May Not be what You Think

Cheech and Chong, Jay and Silent Bob, and Harold and Kumar are some of the names that you may think of when you think of people on pot. There are, however, many different people who promote cannabis in all of it’s finest forms for reasons that vary. Some people consume the herb as a way to ease the mind, some consume it to help with anxiety and aggression. Then, there are some who consume cannabis to stay alive. Here are some people on pot you may or may not be familiar with.
Alexis Bortell

Alexis Bortell is a 10 years old little girl from Dallas, Texas that now resides as a medical cannabis refugee in Colorado. At the age of two, Alexis was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome, a rare form of Epilepsy. She
suffered horribly in her home state with traditional medicines. The family moved to Colorado in 2015 and began cannabis whole plant therapy. Cannabis whole plant therapy includes oils that contain a combination of cannabinoids, not just CBD. CBD is legal in Texas, however CBD is not enough to keep Alexis’ seizures at bay. Alexis has been seizure free now for over 400 days. This is possible because of cannabis. Coltyn Turner, now 15 years old, was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2012. He is alive and healthy today despite the odds that doctors gave him thanks to cannabis. Coltyn began cannabis whole plant therapy and successfully managed to beat his condition. He is now in remission. Charlotte Figi

Charlotte Figi is a 10 year old known by many as the first to be treated with CBD. In fact, the special CBD- line, Charlotte’s Web, is named after her. Charlotte is successfully treating her debilitating seizure condition, called Dravet Syndrome, using cannabis. She is 99.9% seizure free thanks to cannabis. Instead of being practically paralyzed and unable to function, she now attends school and dance class regularly. Cannabis reform laws must change and they must also be responsible. As Charlotte Figi’s mother, Paige Figi stated, “Until the federal law passes, state laws don’t allow you to do much of anything, they’re too limiting.”

Sean J Major is the founder of Eden After Service as well as a member of the Wounded Warrior Battalion. Sean is a U.S. Marine who is recovering from four traumatic brain injuries. He is an advocate of cannabis as an alternative treatment to the massive amounts of prescription medications that are prescribed to American troops/veterans. Sean is actively seeking permission to be the first active duty U.S. Marine to be allowed to use medical cannabis as a treatment option.

Kate Cochran Morgan is a daughter, sister, U.S. Navy veteran, career woman, wife, and cannabis activist. She is also a member of Women Grow. Kate actively advocates for cannabis legalization in Texas as well as the rest of the U.S. She works closely with members of the Wounded Warriors Project, Grow for Vets and Operation Trapped to bring awareness to how cannabis can be very beneficial for our vets. 

Dana Larsen

Dana Larsen is a Canadian cannabis activist who is in the media lately regarding “Operation Overgrow Canada.” Dana is on a mission to distribute one million cannabis seeds to Canadians everywhere. He also made headlines recently for mailing every liberal Prime Minister in Canada a gram of marijuana in an act of civil disobedience. Dana also helped to set up and start Cannabis Culture Magazine. These aren’t your lazy stoners: these are the people who are actively trying to make life better for others and for themselves. While politicians play around with laws, such as the Compassionate Care Act, children including nine-year-old Anna Conte from New York, seven-year-old Sophia Nazarene from Ohio, and a young girl by the name of Lydia Schaeffer have unfortunately lost their lives waiting to have access to this natural medicine.
