As any seasoned smoker or toker could agree, making frequent trips to the dispensary can total up to a hefty cost. Aurora Drift Cannabis designed the Daily Special product line intended to provide a budget-friendly bud option without compromising quality for coin.
To keep things simple and to the point, the Daily Special flower is only available in two strains. The Daily Special Indica and the Daily Special Sativa. I bought both strains and put them to the test to see if I could agree with my fellow Canadians that think Daily Special is the best bud for your buck.
Aurora Drift’s Daily Special Sativa
15-21% THC, 0-1% CBD
$21.95 for 3.5 g
Sativa strains hold a special place in my heart. So, I had high expectations for this strain, as it is the sole sativa option. And oh boy, I was not disappointed.
I was met with a sweet earthy smell with underlying notes of citrus when cracking open the container. At first glance, the bud is light green. Taking a closer look, it is beautifully frosted in trichomes.
The cannabis is light and dry, making it easy for grinding. Because the bud is dry, it can become a bit fine. This is perfect for packing bowls, but if your preferred method is smoking on a spliff, you might want to skip the grinder, and instead pluck the flower with your fingers for better rolling consistency.
When it came time to try the Daily Specials, I decided on using a bong. I was shocked at how smooth it hit, after taking the first toke. The bowl also burned very well, leaving no ash in the bowl piece. The taste was earthy, as expected from the smell of the bud.
I felt a mini buzz instantly. But it took around 10 minutes to feel the cannabis’ full effects. The sativa made for a very clear-headed high. It provided a fresh, awakened buzz, while still very potent. Although lab test results for both strains are not available to the public, the same cannabinoid content can be found stated on the Ontario Cannabis Store, which confirms potency.
Although I achieved an elevated high, I still felt social and productive while smoking on this sativa. The high it provided was comparable to another dispensary bud I have tried. But the Daily Special comes at $6 per gram, compared to paying closer to $10 per gram.

Aurora Drift’s Daily Special Indica
15-21% THC, 0-1% CBD
$21.74 for 3.5 g
After falling in love with the sativa, I was super excited to try out the Daily Special indica. I wasn’t shocked to discover the indica strain was another great hit but on a whole other level.
The indica has the same light and dry qualities as the sativa strain. However, it is a bit darker in color, but it is nicely coated in crystals and orange hairs like the sativa. The smell is a fresh earthy scent with notes of pine, that is matched by a similarly flavored smoke.
I found that when toking on the indica, it made for a slightly harsh smoke. Which later on caused a bit of a throat burn. I also found that it was harder to pull the bowl into the bong chamber but, it was nothing that would make me cough and get teary-eyed over.
The Daily Special Indica was able to induce the famous “couchlock” experience that is a common side effect amongst powerful indica strains. It fit perfectly at the end of a stressful school week. I felt calm and relaxed. I was able to unplug to take a mini-mental vacay, getting caught up on Netflix, and eventually catching some “Zs”.
The high from the indica started strong, but I was reaching for another bowl quicker than I was with the sativa strain. Overall, however, I think that the Daily Special Indica is a great option for those looking for a classic but potent indica high for the low.
Rating: 4/5 Emeralds
I think that smoking on Aurora Drift’s Daily special strains is a great way to save some cash. Especially if you make frequent trips to the dispensary. Both strains gave a substantial buzz that I would compare to cannabis at a much higher price point. I personally prefer the sativa strain. But both are worth a try if you’re looking to save a buck on your bud!
