It’s that time of year where I slowly start to accept my true winter form. Putting away the self tanner, shaving my legs less and finding a good moisturizer are all part of the process. I’ve already noticed my skin getting drier, especially my lips, which is always my least favorite thing about cooler weather. Luckily, The Healing Rose has me covered with a CBD-infused lip balm and skin salve to get my skin through the winter.
For Your Chapped Lips:
I’m one of those people who always has a lip balm in their pocket, so I had to try out their lip care first. I used the Coffee Bean and Peppermint Rosemary flavors. To be honest, I didn’t love the smell of either of them. But I couldn’t smell it while it was on my lips so it didn’t bother me too much.
The texture made up for whatever hesitation I had due to the smell because it was pretty much the ideal feel I look for in a lip balm. Like I said, I always have chapstick on me, so I’ve tried quite a few.
I like when a lip balm lasts on my lips for a while so I don’t have to constantly re-apply, and this one definitely did that for me. Especially now because I don’t want to have to take down my mask over and over again to apply my chapstick.
Another plus for me was that it had a bit of a sheen, which I usually like because I can use lip balm as an alternative to lip gloss on a day-to-day basis. I just can’t stand my hair getting stuck in my lips… I don’t know how people wear lip gloss, but I admire you if you do.
The obvious upside to lip balm is that it moisturizes your lips while you wear it. If it can also act as a lip gloss I consider that a win.
To sum it up on The Healing Rose’s lip balm — it’s my new pocket lip balm, which is saying a lot. It is definitely recommended (the pocket lip balm is at the top of the food chain above the nightstand lip balm and the purse lip balm, for reference). They go for $6 each.
For Your Dry Skin:
Next up, I used their CBD salve on my hands, since they are sadly starting to experience winter dryness too. I tried four different flavors: Raw Cocoa, Orange Lavender, Peppermint Spice and Lemon Ginger. My favorite was Orange Lavender.
Each formula has a different blend of herbal infusions and essential oils that promote different benefits like anti- inflammation, hydration, and healing. Unlike the lip balms, the scent on the skin salves lingers, so that is something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to smells.
Personally, the smells were a bit strong for me. Nonetheless, all of the slaves were very moisturizing and definitely helped hydrate my dry knuckles. However, it left that greasy feeling, which is why I only used the salve on my knuckles because I can’t stand that feeling on my hands.
As far as the soothing properties of the slaves go, I did feel like it had a calming effect.
At $40- $80 a pop (higher CBD potency flavors are more expensive), I would recommend the salves to someone looking to try out a trustworthy CBD-infused product to moisturize and soothe their skin. But the price tag is something to take into account.
But What is The Healing Rose all About?
It’s more important now than ever to support small businesses, which is one of the reasons I was so excited about The Healing Rose. They are a woman-led company out of Newburyport, Massachusetts (arguably one of the most charming cities in New England). What also stood out to me about them was their transparency as a brand; they value quality, clean ingredients and ethical production.
Their products are handcrafted by their team and they provide full lab test results on their website and a thorough explanation of the potency of CBD in each of their products.
Using products on our bodies that have natural, clean ingredients is something that I’m trying to lean more into these days. The Healing Rose only uses ingredients that are 100% natural, and are cruelty, paraben and GMO free. Looking at the ingredients on your lotion can be a little scary when you can’t pronounce anything on the list, so you can breathe a sigh of relief when you see that almost every ingredient The Healing Rose uses has “organic” before it.
To people who are just dipping their toes into the world of CBD-infused products, they make it feel very welcoming and easy to understand, and you don’t have to worry about any nasty ingredients. As a consumer, I feel way more comfortable when a brand is fully honest about their mission as a company. You can be confident that The Healing Rose provides quality, clean and honest products.
