Best Weed Strains for Sex

June 26, 2022 by Partner_Content Leave a Comment

If you’re looking for ways to take your sex to the next level, look no further than the green machine itself: cannabis.

It’s almost absurd how many things cannabis can help with, but this is no joke — there are weed strains that can totally elevate sexual pleasure. In fact, a 2019 study found that 68.5% of respondents reported sex to be more pleasurable while using cannabis.

Below, we’ve laid out some weed strains to try for different types of sexual experiences and needs.

1. More Libido

Here’s some emerging science for you, folks: certain terpenes might be behind the sexual abilities of different strains. And if you’re looking to boost your sex drive, look no further than the terpene limonene.

Strains like Wedding Cake and Do-Si-Dos, which are indica-heavy and have high THC levels, give you that warm body high that leaves you blissful and relaxed.

2. For Solo Play

If you’re going for a good solo session in lieu of couples’ play, look for the terpene linalool. Strains like Amnesia Haze (a sativa) and LA Confidential (an indica) are both great choices for masturbation, particularly if you’re planning on a…marathon, shall we say.

The reason these two strains work so well is that they ramp up slowly, give an intense climax, and fade gradually. Sounds familiar.

3. To Ease Anxiety

It’s pretty much conclusive that cannabis is great at easing anxiety. If you’re prone to anxiety around sex, cannabis is a great way to ease the discomfort and help you enjoy yourself more.

In a 2018 study, participants tried different strains and reported which ones were most helpful at alleviating anxiety. The researchers analyzed these strains for their cannabinoid content and terpene profiles.

In general, Kush strains were the winners — and they’re a great choice if you’re self-conscious about sex.

The participants reported the following strains to be best for anxiety:

  • Bubba Kush (indica)
  • Kosher Kush (indica)
  • Skywalker OG Kush (hybrid, indica-dominant)
  • Blueberry Lamsbread (hybrid, sativa-dominant)

4. To Relieve Pain

If you have pain that’s preventing you from enjoying sex to the fullest, there’s a good chance cannabis can help.

Indicas, in particular, are excellent at relieving pain. Strains with terpenes including caryophyllene, myrcene, humulene, and beta-caryophyllene currently show promise in pain relief. A good strain to try is Zkittlez, an indica-dominant hybrid loaded with humulene and beta-caryophyllene.

You can also try cannatonic (a high-CBD, low-THC hybrid), G13 (a strong indica), and harlequin (hybrid, sativa-dominant)

5. If You’re Looking to Mix Things Up

It’s good to safely step outside your comfort zone every now and again when it comes to sex. If you’re eager to do so but also feel a bit nervous about it, certain strains can help.

Try the following strains to help boost your self-confidence when it’s time to try something new:

  • Blue Dream (hybrid, sativa-dominant)
  • Trainwreck (hybrid, sativa-dominant)
  • Granddaddy Purple (indica)
  • Atomic Northern Lights (hybrid, indica-dominant)

6. If You Need an Energy Boost

If you’re of slow stock and need to keep up with a racehorse in bed, the right strain could be just the thing you’re looking for.

Certain strains — particularly sativas — can give you an energy boost similar to caffeine but with more of a whole-body buzz effect. Try the following strains:

  • Mimosa Strain (sativa)
  • Cheese Quake (hybrid)
  • Super Lemon Haze (a citrusy sativa)
  • Green Crack Strain (sativa)

7. If You Need to Relax

On the other hand, maybe you’re feeling a bit high-strung and just need to come back down to earth. Cannabis usually chills you out if you take too much, which you want to avoid. Choosing the right strain will let you relax on a proper dose so you can chill out to heat up.

The following strains are considered relaxing by many users:

  • Gelato Strain (hybrid)
  • Master Kush (indica)
  • Animal Cookies (hybrid, balanced)
  • Mr. Nice (sativa)
  • Runtz Strain (hybrid)

8. If You Want Increased Sensitivity

Being more sensitive to touch can increase sexual pleasure immensely. It’s well-known that certain strains can increase tactile sensitivity in a pleasant way, though everyone’s body reacts differently, and you’ll likely have to experiment to find the perfect strain.

A good idea is to look for a CBD-dominant strain such as ACDC, which contains plentiful terpenes and a nice inversion of CBD and THC — 14% to less than 1%, respectively.

You can have the tingles with the following strains as well:

  • Sour Diesel (sativa)
  • Bubblegum Kush (hybrid, indica-dominant)
  • Jillybean (hybrid, indica-dominant)

Indicas Vs. Sativas Vs. Hybrids

If you’re looking for an easy answer as to which type of strain will help you more in bed, there isn’t one.

Terpenes are more important to your sexual experience with cannabis than the type of strain classification. Take the above recommendations as a starting point and go from there, taking note of how your body responds sexually.

Tinctures Vs. Edibles Vs. Smoking

In general, tinctures and smoking/vaping are the best way to get cannabis into your system. Edibles have to pass through your GI tract before they take effect. Because cannabinoids are fat-soluble, they have trouble getting absorbed in your stomach and intestines. Smoking, vaping, and sublingual tinctures get them into your bloodstream in a hurry.

If you and your partner choose edibles, there’s a good chance your bodies will respond differently, and you’ll have sex before the effects even kick in.

Products to Choose From

There’s always the option to smoke, vape, or take tinctures. But there are actually quite a few cool products on the sexual cannabis market these days.

Try some THC or CBD lube to put those cannabinoids where they count. According to many satisfied users, these products are a big yes. Some say they lead to faster and more intense arousal, while others claim they provide more climactic orgasms. Plus, lubrication is everything.

Anal and vaginal THC and CBD suppositories are also becoming popular, as they can help you achieve better lubrication, reduce pain, and have more fulfilling sexual pleasure.

Do your research and enjoy the process — after all, what could be more fun than combining cannabis and sex?
