The Clear is an American-grown hemp brand that offers a range of CBD-infused products nationwide to help consumers naturally improve their wellness routine. The brand, which is owned by The Clear distillate company, was created by a group of chemists and scientists who wanted to find cleaner ways to consume cannabis.
The Clear sells tested and pesticide-free CBD apothecary products like salves, lip balms, capsules, and tinctures as well as vape products.
Although limited in selection, the apothecary products aim to solve life’s little problems like chapped lips or trouble waking up in the morning. One product that proved helpful for me was The Clear Salve topical.
The Clear’s CBD Salve: What is in the Tin?
500 mg per 2 ounces
$29.99
The Clear makes their CBD-infused salve with CBD from industrial hemp, coconut oil, menthol, eucalyptus oil, camphor oil, peppermint oil, and beeswax. The salve does not contain THC, according to the potency test report.
Although not evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Botanacor Laboratories — an industrial hemp and CBD testing laboratory, and the third-party facility responsible for testing the salve — approved this product in 2019.
While the product’s label says that the salve has 500 mg of CBD per container, the topical’s third-party test results reveal that it actually contains 430 mg — 14% less than advertised.
The company makes the salve with industrial hemp. Therefore, it is not intended to treat any disease. However, this product is a great way to help restore skin’s moisture naturally.
How it works
Studies suggest that CBD is an effective treatment for skin conditions like acne, atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
Additionally, CBD may help to hydrate and relieve dry or inflamed skin, explained Dr. Nima Gharavi, a dermatologist at the Cedars-Sinai Cosmetic Dermatology Program.
Coconut oil is shown to improve symptoms of skin disorders and inflammation by moisturizing and soothing affected areas, according to research in the Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine. Many used virgin coconut oil as a moisturizer in tropical regions for centuries. But more recently its anti-inflammatory and skin protective benefits have proven to play a vital role in skincare.
Similarly, beeswax locks in moisture and reduces swelling, according to RxList, an online resource for prescriptions. It also helps relieve pain and reduce skin ulcers while providing fragrance to the salve.
According to the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy, menthol is can treat soft tissue damage (bruises, strains, sprains, etc.) and inflammation.
The Clear’s CBD-infused salve also contains eucalyptus oil. When applied to certain areas, eucalyptus oil can reduce arthritis and skin ulcers; ease cold symptoms and respiratory problems; and treat conditions such as asthma and nasal congestion, according to the RxList. It can even act as a tick repellant.
If aches and pains are a concern, then the camphor and peppermint oils may help. Traditionally used as a fragrance, camphor oil is shown to treat minor muscle aches and pains, according to the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute. Likewise, peppermint oil is popular for treating muscle aches and joint pain, as well as reducing itching, headaches, stress, and colds and coughs, according to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health. Many people also use it to improve mental function.
Locking in Moisture
The Clear’s CBD-infused salve offers ingredients that actively improve skin’s health. Unlike other salves, this product does not just soothe skin, it heals it. Whether one uses it to reduce inflammation or ease cold symptoms, this salve is versatile.
I am someone who deals with dry, cracked hands in the cold winter months — especially during the COVID-19 pandemic as I constantly wash my hands. But the CBD salve cleared up my cuts after just one to two uses.
The beeswax locked in moisture on my hands for an entire day. However, it left an oily residue that took about 10 minutes to go away. The peppermint scent was somewhat overwhelming too. But it woke me up a bit — an extra benefit as far as I am concerned.
While the salve’s peppermint aroma gave me a mid-day refresh, the scent soothed me at night. I actually found that applying the salve before bed was better because the oil on my palms did not bother me as much as it had during the day. Plus, I woke up to more hydrated skin — which better armed me for frequent hand-washing and winter weather.
Although it locked in moisture, the salve’s oil-based ingredients and beeswax made areas like my palms, which were not as rough, a bit oily and slippery.
With that in mind, I found the best places for using the salve were rougher areas like my hands, elbows and ankles. Since the peppermint scent is so strong, the salves may burn the skin on areas such as the face and forearms. So I would stick to putting it on areas with tougher skin.

Final Thoughts on The Clear’s CBD Salve
Compared to most store-bought lotions and salves, this salve is not cheap. However, at $29.99 per tin, this price is more than reasonable when compared to other CBD-infused salves on the market. Many of the CBD salves I have come across cost around $50. But the ingredients in other topicals do not live up to The Clear’s salve.
Overall, I think The Clear’s CBD-infused salve is 100% worth buying. I have not seen one cut on my hands since I got the product and I have only made a small indent in the tin. As someone who dealt with routine bloody knuckles because of dry, cracked skin, I found this salve to be a life savior. I highly recommend this product to anyone who struggles with dry or rough skin.
After I experienced the luxury of cut-free hands, I am never going back to store-bought lotions. I am now hooked on this topical.
