July is National Blueberry Month, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Blueberries are super foods, reports Healthline. They are chock-full of antioxidants, fiber and vitamins C and K. Aside from their benefits for the mind and body, they’re also a popular ingredient in cannabis products, perhaps because many find their flavor to compliment the plant’s herbal tones. In celebration of blueberries, Emerald has rounded up a few blueberry-flavored or inspired infusions that our contributor’s have featured over the years.
9 Blueberry-Inspired Infusions
Backyard barbecues and outdoor activities are abound during the summertime. But, July is usually one of the hottest months of the year. So, what better way to coll off than with a cold treat. Gourmet edibles company, Angel Haus Edibles — is serving up infused ice creams in a variety of flavors, including Blueberry Kush. “One of our best creation[s] up to date,” writes Angel Haus Edibles’ website. “Made with GMO Free Blueberries and Organic Milk. We use a sativa strain with this flavor, giving it nice blueberry kush smell and taste.”
In celebration of Pride, Recreate — a cannabis company focused on wellness — launched its limited edition Yerba Mate gummies and sparkling elixir. The micro-dosed Blueberry Mint Acai Elixir contains 2.5 g of CBD, and 2.5 mg of THC. The beverages also feature Yerba Mate, blueberry juice, agave syrup and an exclusive blend of terpenes.
Pure for Life advertises that their Active Tinctures contain a full-spectrum blend with 1,000 mg of CBD. The tinctures come in different flavors, including blueberry, chocolate, strawberry and more. In addition to flavor profiles, customers can also pick which carrier oil they’d prefer — hemp seed oil or coconut oil.
Though these may sound good enough for humans, Martha Stewart’s line of Chicken and Blueberry CBD treats are for dogs. They come in different varieties for wellness and mobility. Treats are also categorized by weight, and contain ingredients like anise seed, peas and blueberries.
Don’t wait until Pie Day (March 14th) to try this smooth, berry-licoius strain. Blueberry Pie “is an indica-dominant hybrid of Girl Scout Cookies and Blue Dream,” writes one Emerald contributor. “[It’s] ridden with the aromatic scent of its namesake and known to relieve stress and pain. It’s a relatively uncommon strain, but if you manage to get your hands on it, expect feelings of relaxation and happiness.”
Speaking of strains — we’d remiss if we didn’t include the ever popular Blue Dream. The strain itself is a cross between Blueberry and Haze, reports Leafly.
The strain “tastes quite simply and sweetly of blueberries, just as one of its parent’s namesake suggests,” writes Emerald. “The aromas and the taste linger for a bit even after a clean exhale. It fills the nose and coats the tongue with the sugary tart flavors of fresh berries.”
Calm by Wellness’ Sleep Blueberry Lavender Tincture is made with 1,000 mg of hemp-derived CBD, and is formulated to help consumers get a good night’s rest. When one Emerald contributor tried it, she noticed that she “[…] felt more rested the next morning when I woke up. That’s a major win for me because I’m that person who wakes up like a true zombie before my morning cuppa joe.”
Plus CBD’s Balanced Gummies are meant to promote calm. One Emerald contributor, however, put them to the test on her cramps: “Tiny, pleasant crystals of sugar surrounding the gummy cube coated my tongue upon biting down, and I was briefly distracted from my crazed mental state and the fact that I was possibly dying in my bed in Queens, New York. In that moment, I could have been standing in the summer sun, picking fresh blueberries.” she added. “[…] Fast-forward one hour into my trashy reality show, when it dawned on me; I hadn’t so much as thought about my cramps since the intro song. My body felt light, my mind felt at ease […].”
While Emerald tried the Peach flavor — another fruit that’s celebrated in July — the enhancers also come in different fruity flavors, like blueberry, with specific effects like sleep or energy. The enhancers are made with nano CBD oils, which means it is fast-acting, and takes effect within minutes.
