Maybe you’re in need of a self-care session in order to stay at home to limit your social interactions, or perhaps you’re looking to be kinder to your wallet. There are many reasons why DIY at-home beauty care is all the rage right now! When pampering yourself, it might be difficult to know where to begin. Don’t worry! We’ve got you covered with our seven simple steps to achieve a spa-quality CBD facial at home!
1. Atmosphere for a CBD facial at home
One of the best things about pampering yourself at home is having the freedom to completely customize your experience. To create the most relaxing atmosphere, make sure you are free of distractions. That can mean turning your phone on silent or going somewhere private so you can fully relax. We recommend finding what makes you feel the most serene, whether that’s lighting your favorite candle, playing a relaxing Spotify playlist, brewing a cup of hot tea, drawing a warm bath or even throwing on your coziest bathrobe. Self-care is all about you; so don’t hold back on doing what makes you the most comfortable.
2. Tincture
This step is optional. But for ultimate relaxation, we suggest taking the recommended dose of your favorite CBD oil.
Nearly one-third of the American population is dealing with extreme levels of stress. For some people, stress is a constant struggle. CBD is a great option when it comes to alleviating stress and anxiety.
For example, a 2015 study found that continued use of CBD oil helped to reduce levels of stress and anxiety in patients with social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and panic disorder as well as generalized anxiety disorder. CBD is celebrated for its amazing calming abilities, making a few drops perfect for furthering your relaxation experience.
3. Double Cleansing
Before applying any kind of skincare, it is important to start with a fresh, clean face. Cleansing your skin is an important step because it removes any dirt or impurities on the skin’s surface. A common mistake when cleansing the skin is only doing it once. Double cleansing is the process of using two different cleansers. The first cleanser should be oil-based while the second is a typical foaming cleanser. Double cleansing breakdown:
Step 1: Massage oil cleanser on the skin for 2-5 minutes to dissolve dirt and oils on the skin’s surface. Rinse with warm water.
Step 2: Use your regular facial cleanser to remove leftover oil. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Double cleansing is recommended to those that deal with ageing or acne-prone skin, or for those who are used to a full face of makeup. Oil breaks down oil. When you use an oil cleanser first it removes any oils on the skin’s surface, like leftover makeup, dirt and sebum. Sometimes a foaming cleanser alone can leave your skin feeling dry and tight. Oil cleanser helps to add an extra barrier of hydration to your skin while leaving it clean and hydrated.
4. Exfoliate
Any type of facial exfoliation is a necessary step. Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells that sit upon the skin’s surface, leaving for a smoother brighter complexion. We encourage you to find an exfoliator that works best for your skin type. A safe and easy way to exfoliate your skin is by using items you may already have in your kitchen. Here is a simple three-ingredient DIY face scrub for all skin types:
1 tablespoon coffee grounds
1 teaspoon raw honey
2-3 drops CBD oil
Combine ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. After cleansing, apply the scrub to damp skin by rubbing in gentle, circular motions. Before rinsing, give the scrub a minute or two to penetrate into your skin to reap some all-natural goodness.

5. Mask
The mask portion of the facial is when you get to relax the most. Choose one of our 3 DIY CBD Face Mask Recipes that best fit the needs of your skin. Each mask is made with all-natural ingredients that your skin will thank you for. Kick your feet up and allow for the mask to do the work for you!
6. Serum + Massage
After the relaxing mask, it is time to reawaken your skin. One of the best ways to energize your skin is by improving the skin’s blood flow through facial massage. Using a massage tool like a facial roller is an easy way to complete your at-home massage. A 2018 Oxford study found that people who introduced a 5 minute facial massage into their routine improved blood flow circulation also the appearance of sagging skin and wrinkles.
To prevent harmful pulling or tugging on the skin when giving yourself a facial massage, it’s crucial that you apply a few drops of your favorite infused serum. The serum adds slip, preventing any premature wrinkles. Not only does it allow for a smoother massage, but serums are designed to target your skins specific needs like acne, ageing or dullness.

7. Moisturizer
Once you have let the serum soak into your skin, the final step is to lock in the hydration with a moisturizer. Grab your favorite CBD moisturizer or choose one from our list of five favorites.
Squeeze a quarter-size amount of moisturizer into your hand, warm it up in your palms and pat it gently onto your face and neck. Patting the moisturizer into your skin is a much safer alternative to rubbing it in. Patting pushes the moisturizer into your skin instead of rubbing it, which can cause premature wrinkles.
Bonus: Now that the facial is complete and you have treated your skin on the outside, remember the importance of treating your skin from the inside. Replenish your skin by drinking at least 8 cups of water daily to keep your skin happy, healthy and hydrated!
