A High-End Event: 2020 Oscar Swag Bags To Include Vape Pens and $10k Edible Tasting

It’s Oscar Sunday—and with the contents of this year’s swag bags, don’t be surprised if the nominees are looking particularly euphoric!

Every year, the independent marketing company, Distinctive Assets provides Oscar nominees with luxurious, over the top goodie bags. Known as the “Everyone Wins” swag-bags, every nominee in the top five categories: best actor, best actress, best supporting actor, best supporting actress, and best director, will receive one of the annual bags.

This year’s swag bags, however, will be the most expensive and elaborate in Oscar history. According to NBC2, Distinctive Assets bags will be worth an estimated six-figures. Hard to believe, but that’s an increase of nearly $70,000 from last year.

Amongst this year’s gifts are a high-end vape pen by HollowTips, cannabis infused chocolates from Coda Signature, simple syrup by CBD Barkeep, and hemp balm by SHEbd.

24k Vape Pen…

The vape pens, created by HollowTips, sport a luxurious 24-karat gold finish, making them one of the most expensive and high end pens on the market. According to their website, Hollow Tips’ cartridges are “one-of-a-kind, designed with passion for cannabis, innovation and craftsmanship. High grade, lab tested THC clear extract is delivered from a patented bullet-shaped cartridge, fully equipped with a 510 thread connection and leaf-proof technology.”

According to Forbes, Distinctive assets founder Lash Fary pulled inspiration for the gift from that time when Leonardo DiCaprio famously vaped at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2016.

“[People ask] why we are giving rich people things they could afford and it’s so not about being able to afford it,” Fary explained. “You know, Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t need $20 million per film, but she’s earned that because of her marquee name.”

Wondering what $10k worth of cannabis chocolate tastes like?

As for Coda Signature, this will be their second time featured in the goodie bags. Known for their high-end infused edibles, topicals and concentrates, Coda Signature describes themselves on their website as “representative of decades of collective experience ranging from organic chemistry and classical French training to industrial design and entrepreneurship.”

Coda hoped to provide their THC-infused treats in the bags. However, California’s laws banning cannabis samples for public events prevented them from doing so. Thus, this year’s gift of a private cannabis-infused chocolate tasting will be provided via a $10,000 certificate. For more info on Coda Signature’s edibles, check out the Emerald’s review.

Including all 24 acting and directing nominees, the total value of these swag bags comes from $5.2 million. Overall, we’d imagine it’s pretty hard to be upset about not winning a gold trophy when you’re headed home with six-figures worth of luxury gifts.
